Anthony Joseph Zaccaria, Sr., 57, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away July 15, 2006. He was born January 30, 1949, in Providence, RI. He was preceded in death by his father, Antonio Zaccaria and his sister, Deborah Di Spirito. ZALE, Donald
Donald Zale passed away June 29, 2006. He was born November 15, 1937, the fifth of eight children born to Hason and Sophie Zale. He retired from the United States Army. Surviving Donald are his sisters; Mary and Zana and brothers; Allen, Homer and Memeth. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews as well as his two best friends, Molly and Maggie. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and brothers. He had retired as a first helper after 36 years with the U.S. Steel Corp and was an Air Forces veteran of World War II and a member of the Church of St. Joachim. ZALESKI, William F.
William F. Zaleski dies; salesman to restaurants. William F. Zaleski, a top Tucson restaurant-supply salesman and kitchen designer, died Monday of cancer. He was 55. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Jan. 7 at Bring's Broadway Chapel, 6910 E. Broadway. Born in Phoenix, Zaleski learned to play guitar in his youth and during high school played guitar in a band led by Wayne Newton, who was a neighbor. Zaleski used his musical ability to pay his way through Arizona State University. After serving in the Navy, Zaleski worked during the 1960s as a salesman for Hoechst-Roussel Pharmaceutical in Colorado. He moved to Tucson in 1975, joining Shamrock Foods' restaurant sales division. He was hired by Ford Restaurant Supply in 1983 and became the top salesman in Tucson. Zaleski was a member of a Tucson Police Department volunteer unit that assists officers with stakeouts, searches and traffic control. He also held small acting parts with the Arizona Opera Company during its last four seasons. Survivors include his wife, Francoise Loubet; son, William of Phoenix; daughter, Beth Ann Zaleski of California; parents, Robert and Dorothy Zaleski of Prescott; three brothers, Robert J. of Phoenix, Gary B. of Florida and Don C. of Colorado; stepchildren Richard Marshall, Laura Marshall and Maureen McDaniel; one grandson and three step-grandsons. ZAMORA, Frank R.
Frank R. Zamora Jr. died Dec. 17, 2006 with cancer. He was born in Morenci to Frank G. Zamora and Cofa Zamora on June 6, 1950. He graduated from Morenci High School and worked in the mine at Morenci with his father. Frank married Cecilia Martinez and had a son, Daniel Zamora, in 1981. He and Cecilia parted ways, and he met his partner, Tracy Sotelo. Frank is survived by his son, Daniel Zamora; mother, Cofa Zamora; sister, Anne Roman; brother, Paul Zamora; partner of 11 years, Tracy Sotelo, and her grandson, Anthony Sotelo. ZAMORSKI, Bruno H.
Bruno H. Zamorski, 82, died of complications from cancer September 23, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Mary Zamorski; sister, Susie Zamorski; son, Michael Zamorski and wife Phyllis; daughter, Trish Hosking and husband Mike; daughter, Mary Lou and husband Lyndell Storey, and son Jerry Allen; grandchildren; Kevin and Kellene Storey; Jason and Genelle Allen; great-grandchildren Chantelle and Spencer Allen, Kaylee and Kalynn Storey. Bruno was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from Riverside High School and then joined the Navy. He served in WWII on the USS Long Island. He served his country from 1941 - 1947. After the war he moved back home and went to college on the GI Bill earning his degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin. Bruno accepted a job with the FAA in Alaska in 1952. He retired from the FAA after 27 years in 1979. His first wife, Helen, died in 1995, and after many lonely years he met and married Mary in 1999. He lived in Alaska for 52 years and decided to live in warm Mesa, AZ in the winters for 22 years, from 1982 to 2004. He enjoyed his family and Alaskan snow-bird friends, traveling, playing golf and helping out at the church. Bruno was a member of the VFW and the Moose Club in Anchorage. Bruno loved to travel and will be remembered for his colorful stories. He enjoyed talking to people and had a great sense of humor. A memorial church service was held at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mesa, AZ. His burial will be in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Messinger Indian School Mortuary assisted the family. Mary Veronica Zanck, 85, of North Port, Florida, died December 08, 2006. She is survived by her husband George of 63 years; 2 sons, George of Bozeman, MT, and Ralph (& Joan) of Gilbert, AZ; and 1 daughter, Kathleen Erickson (& Clarence) of Round Lake, IL; 9 grandchildren Dawn (Zanck) Long, Jennifer (Zanck) Carr, Brian Erickson, Nicole Erickson, Danielle (Erickson) Mann, Dustin Zanck, Amie Zanck, Joseph Zanck, and Laura Mary Zanck; and 6 great-grandchildren August Carr, Savannah Carr, Dalton Carr, Garrett Long, Brady Mann, and Gabriella Zanck. Many loving LaHendro and Zanck family members also survive her. Mary was the last of 8 children born to Joseph and Tilly LaHendro. Mary helped her husband develop an American Family Insurance agency in Lake Villa, Illinois. She was a member of the VFW Post 4308 in Lake Villa and a member of San Pedro's Church in North Port. Gloria Elaine Zehnder, 84, passed away on November 14, 2006. Gloria was born August 17, 1922 to Howard and Bernice Beaty in Pontiac, MI. Gloria married Adolph G. Zehnder in 1941, and after Adolph's service in the Army, they settled in Berkley, MI to raise their family. Gloria and Adolph moved to Scottsdale, AZ in 1978 until Adolph's death in 1995. She is survived by her children, Donna Lewis of Phoenix, AZ and Gordon (Corlyn) Zehnder of Auburn Hills, MI; her grandchildren, Jason Lewis, Wendy (Brent) Wilson, Matthew (Kelly) Zehnder, Emily Zehnder, and Eric Zehnder; and great-grandchildren, Bennett and Kyle Wilson. Robert L. "Bob" Zeidler, 70, owner of equipment and supplies stores, died Nov. 21, 1982. A Montana native, Mr. Zeidler moved to Phoenix in 1940 and served in the Army as a captain in World War II. He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity in Missoula, Montana, East Phoenix Rotar Club, the Elks Club, the Arizona Cattlemen's Club, the Arizona Club and was a charter member of the Arizona Country Club. He owned Arizona Engine and Pump Co. until Feb. 1, 1981, and was owner of the State Tractor and Equipment Co. of Phoenix. John R. Zell M.D., PhD, 79, of Paradise Valley passed away on April 6, 2006. John was born in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota on Feb. 12 1927. He earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1949. He was the first physician to volunteer during the Korean War and served three tours of duty with the U.S. Navy. He moved to Phoenix in 1961 where he practiced psychotherapy and psychoanalysis for 45 years. Mesa - Richard Patrick Zent, 42, whose pioneer grandparents came to Arizona in the early 1880s, died Oct. 6, 1979, during a visit to a brother's ranch in Rodeo, N.M. He was a consultant for a mining company in Mexico. He was brought to Phoenix as a child and attended Roosevelt Elementary, Phoenix Union and South Mountain high schools before serving three years in the Marine Corps. He worked for the AZ Republic while attending Arizona State University and in 1962 began his career with the Duval Corp in Kingman. He later worked in Nevada and the Anaconda Co. in CHile and Tucson. In recent years he was owner of the Custom-Craft Television Picture Tube Co. in Fresno, CA, where he resided. Conner Daniel Zimmerman, 10, passed away August 29th, 2004 in Phoenix, AZ. following an automobile accident in Mesa on August 28th, 2004 from head trauma sustained in the crash. He was born April 21, 1994 in Mesa, AZ. to Daniel W. and Rita Kay Randall Zimmerman. He attended Falcon Hill Elementary and currently was in the 5th grade at Zaharis Elementary. Conner was a sweet boy who loved and lived life to the fullest. He couldn't waste a minute of the day because he had so many plans. It was said of him by his 5th grade teacher that everyone was Conner's friend. He was a talented athlete and excelled in baseball beyond his years always making the All Star Teams. He played all sports and was loved and appreciated by his teammates and coaches. He will be missed by all. Conner was preceded in death by an Uncle Eric Zimmerman of Mesa, his grandfather Blaine T. Randall, a cousin Kristen Kay Randall both of the Blackfoot, Idaho area. He is survived by his parents, Daniel and Rita Kay and three sisters Whitney Jade 17, Quincy Kay, 14 and Zoe Pauline who is 5, of Mesa. Also his grandparents, Walter and Lela Zimmerman and numerous relatives in the Mesa area, his grandmother, Pauline R. Hill of Blackfoot, Idaho and his many cousins who loved to have him come to visit in the summer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. Friday, Sept. 3, 2004 with President Molina of the Salt River Stake conducting. A viewing will take place from 10 a. m. to 10:45 a. m. prior to the service at the church located at 6940 E. Brown Road, Mesa. Also a viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p. m., Thursday at Bunker's University Chapel, 3529 E. University in Mesa. April 20, 1971 - July 30, 2006 Elma native Eric J. Zugay, an environmental engineer, died July 30 in a Phoenix hospital after a long bout with cancer. He was 35. Mr. Zugay moved to Phoenix at age 11. He earned a bachelor's degree in geology and a master's degree in hydrology at Arizona State University, where he was also pursuing a civil engineering degree. Eric J. Zugay, 35, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Arizona State University (1992), a Masters of Science degree in Hydrology from the University of Arizona (1995) and was actively pursuing a civil engineering degree while working as an environmental engineer. His passion for education in engineering came first. When cancer engulfed Eric's life, he then redirected his life goals to find a cure for his cancer, knowing his time was short. Prescott -- Rosary for Henry Zuker, 73, who died Sunday in the Whipple Veterans Administration Hospital, will be recited at Chapel of the Garden. Mass of Requiem was sung at the VA Chapel. Burial will be in the VA Cemetery. Mr. Zuker, a veteran of World War I, was born in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. He was a retired Detroit police officer and had served in action against Pancho Villa in 1916. He had lived in Arizona for 25 years and in Wickenburg for 17 years. ZUKOWSKI-FAUST, Jean
Jean Zukowski-Faust, 65, who was a professor at NAU, died July 17, 2006. She was born on April 3, 1941, in Iron Mountain, Mich., to Helen and Joseph Zukowski and graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1963, her master's in English as a second language from the University of Arizona in 1973, and doctorate in applied linguistics and English education from the UofA in 1978. ZUREK, Maija Viksne
Maija Viksne Zurek, of Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away on March 22, 2006. She was the daughter of Leontine and the late Julijs Viksne. She is survived by her brother, John (Barbara) Viksne; sisters Anita (Ronald) Davis and Liga (Roger) Byrne; nieces and nephews and grandnephews. Maija was born October 6, 1946 in Detmold, Germany, to parents who left Latvia before the Communist occupation. The family emigrated to the United States in 1949, and settled first in Burlington, Iowa later in Davenport, Iowa. Maija graduated from Davenport High School and received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Michigan State University. She taught school in Michigan and Illinois. ZWISLER, Quida Wald
Quida Wald Zwisler, 92, of Peoria, Arizona, died Monday, August 23, 2004 in Sun Health Hospice Residence in Peoria, Arizona. Quida was born in Chicago Heights, Illinois. In 1931 she married Joseph Zwisler and they resided in Chicago. In 1938, he was transferred to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mrs. Zwisler was active in the Whitefish Bay Women's Club and was a Pink Lady at St. Mary's Hospital. For ten years she was CEO of a firm manufacturing a national brand of artists water colors. In 1976, the Zwislers moved to Sun City, Arizona, where she was a Charter Member of Palmbrook Country Club, life member of the Lakes Club, All Saints of the Desert Episcopal Church Alter Guild and Endowment Committee, and the Boswell Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her son, Joey in 1957 and husband, Joe in 1995. She is survived by brothers: Martin Wald of Pontiac, Illinois and Robert Wald of Fullerton, California; sister in law; cousins; nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P. M. ZYLSTRA, Bernard R.
Scottsdale - Bernard R. Zylstra, 65, a retired vice president of the Arizona Bank who was credited with developing the first computerized banking in the state, died Oct. 6, 1980, in Scottsdale Memorial Hospital. Mr. Zylstra had been president of the Institute of Bank Administration and taught for the Arizona Institute of Banking. He worked for the Farmer & Stockman Bank after coming to Arizona in 1952 from Glenview, ILlinois. The Farmer & Stockman Bank later merged with the Bank of Douglas and subsequently became the Arizona Bank. Mr. Zylstra, 8145 E. Camelback, was born in Chicago and had been in banking 50 years. He was a member of Phoenix Elks Lodge 335. Surviving are his wife, Laverne; daughter, Lynne Kulik; two grandchildren and three brothers. Memorial Services will be today in Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E.
