Loran Reed Webb, 81, a one-time
road construction superintendent for the U.S. Indian Service, died Nov. 26,
1982, in Mesa. He was also a former carpenter and apartment owner, owned and
operated the Daze Transfer and Storage Co. At age 72 he received his real estate
license. He lived in Arizona all his life. He was a member of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survived by daughters, Elaine Brooks, Florine

and her husband Charles raised eight children. She is survived by her sons; Ray,

Prescott - Rockwell I. Webb, 77, a Prescott businessman and civic
leader for more than 50 years, died Nov. 17, 1982, at Yavapai Community
Hospital. He was born in El Paso, Texas, and moved to Prescott in 1929 when he
became a salesman and district manager for Goodyear Rubber & Tire Co. He later
operated the Webb Motor Co., a Ford dealership, for 25 years. In 1967 he founded
the Roxie Webb Inc. and for 12 years sold stocks through the Midwest Stock
Exchange. Mr. Webb was a member of the Prescott School Board for 11 years and an
organizer of the Chamber of Commerce. He was past president of the Rotary Club,
a Paul Harris Fellow, a member of the Smokie People and a director of Bagdad
Copper Co. He also was a board member and president of the Salvation Army and
the American Cancer Society. Mr. Webb was an Elk state president in 1939 of the
Arizona Automobile Association, member of the YMCA, president and organizer of
the Prescott Gun Club and a sustaining member of the Prescott Jaycees. He was a
Mason, a Shriner and a member of the Grand Canyon Council of Boy Scouts. He is
survived by his wife, Harriette; daughter, Nancy Webb Ruskin; son, Rockwell; a

James Paul Weber was born July 23, 1936 in
Chicago, IL, to Lorraine Weber. He passed away on September 4, 2004. Known to
his family and friends as Jim, was a veteran of the Army serving in the 82nd
Airborne, he then moved on to a distinguished 48 years career with American
Airlines. Jim was hardly ordinary, he was extraordinary in so many ways. Jim
never knew a stranger. He had the amazing ability to strike up a conversation
with anyone and part with a new friend. Jim loved life, he loved to watch
movies, baseball games, travel, and especially loved his family. His loving wife

In Illinois. William Weber, 72, art advertising director 45 years for the Cudahy
Co. in Chicago before retiring to Phoenix in 1962, died Tuesday in Good

Annapolis and served as an ensign aboard the battleship New Hampshire in World
War I. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity at the Massachusetts

S. John Weinmann, 63, a retired industrial engineer for Motorola, Inc., and
owner of John's Jewelry-Clocks in Scottsdale until June, died Oct. 3, 1980, in

from Ohio. He served in the Army in World War II and later was in the Kwajalein
atomic bomb project. Earlier in his career he was a navigator of a Goodyear
blimp. He was co-founder of the International Key Winders Association (KAWCE),
was a meber of Masonic Lodge 697, El Zaribah Shrine, Elks Lodge 335 and North

Supervisor. Priest Road in Tempe was named after him. Mrs. Wellington taught
school for seven years after graduating from Tempe Normal School in 1906. She is

Arizona alumnus. During WWII, he served two years in the U. S. Navy aboard the
aircraft carrier Altamaha, where he was wounded. Al lived in Hawaii, Washington,
California, and Texas before returning to settle in his home state, in Tempe. He
was employed by Motorola for many years and took over the care of his father's
ranch upon his passing. Al is survived by his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Wells; a son,
Daniel, of Houston; two sisters, Vivian Howe, of Tempe, and Mabel Callaway of
Douglas; one nephew; three nieces; and many cherished friends. We will miss his

Buckner Wells, 87, a former program director for the Phoenix YWCA, died March
26, 1980, in Kivel Nursing Home. She came to Phoenix 40 years ago from
Aubuquerque. Miss Wells was graduated from the University of Chicago and was a
student of Dr. James H. Breasted, a noted archeologist and Egyptologist. She was
on the staff of the university's field school at Luxor, Egypt, during the
excavation of King Tut's Tomb. Cremation. Memorial services were in Unitarian
Universalist Church.

processor, died Tues., Oct. 26, 1982, in a Valley valley nursing home. She was
born in Charlotte, N.C., and moved to Arizona seven years ago. Survivors include

Laird, Sr. Mary was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend to all.

Dr. Welsh was recognized locally and nationally for her work with women in
careers. She was a member of the National Association of Women Deans and
Counselors and the American Personal Guidance Association. She earned
bachelor's, Master's and doctor's degrees at Arizona State University. She came
here 17 years ago. Survivors include her daughters, Kristy and Kathy Welsh;

engineer for the State of New York, died Dec. 20, 1982, in Maryvale Samaritan
Hospital. He was born in Manhattan, New York, and moved to Prescott Valley in
1979 from Rensselaer, N. Y. He moved to Phoenix two months ago. He was a member
of the New York State Association of Highway Engineers, the Civil Service
Employees Association, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Arizona
Association of Retired persons. He is survived by his daughter, Mae Schievone;
sons, Edward III, Gary, Paul and Arthur Welsh and Mel Kelsey; a sister; 18
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Graveside services were at Redwood

moved here in 1971, was born in Kansas and was a graduate of the University of
Kansas Medical School. He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the

the Spanish Village and had been active in community affairs, died Oct. 21,
1979. She moved here from Burlington, VT. Mrs. Wensel served on the board of
Tumbleweed Home, was second vice president of Saguaro Foothills Soroptomist
Club, a member of Carefree Chamber of Commerce and Desert Forest Womens Club.

Wessman, 68, went home to be with his Lord on September 10, 2004, at his home in
Anthem Arizona. He was born in St. Paul, MN to Rev. C. L. and Phoebe Wessman on
June 20, 1936. Graduated from Denfield High, Duluth, MN, attended Bethel
College, St. Paul, MN, received his BS and MS in Chemical Engineering,
University of Minnesota. After graduation from college he moved with his wife
Betty Johnson Wessman to California where they lived until moving to AZ in 2002.
He was active in the American Nuclear Society. His life was devoted to serving
God both in his local churches and on District and National Boards of the
Baptist General Conference. His desire was to do the will of God in all things,
including the journey after being diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in January of
2002. George's faith and trust in God remained strong and his service to the
Lord continued. He is survived by his wife, of 46 years, son George, MN, Son Tim
of CA, Daughter Pam Stayer AZ, seven grandchildren, his sister Joyce Duck MN,
Sister Joann Wessman MN and Sister Ruth Stembridge, MN. Please join us in a
