WADE, Pauline
Services for Pauline Wade, a homemaker, were in Heritage Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Wade died Monday, Oct. 25, 1982, in a Valley hospital. She was born in Vardaman, Mississippi, and moved to Arizona from Washington. She moved to Youngtown after living in Arizona five years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sun City. WADSWORTH, Beula
Tucson - Beula M. Wadsworth, 77, died Saturday. A native of Saranac, Michigan, she was supervisor of the art department in the schools of Kalamazoo, Michigan, 15 years before coming to Tucson 25 years ago. In 1928, she was made assistant editor of School Arts, national art publication, with offices at Stanford University. She was an advisory editor at the time of her death. He retired as branch manager of the Remington Rand Corp. in Baltimore, Maryland, after 50 years in the accounting machine business. He was a World War I veteran. WAGNER, Edward Carl
Edward Carl Wagner of Scottsdale (9/28/32 to 9/20/04), loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, neighbor, coach and good Samaritan is survived by those he loved: his wife and best friend of 47 years, Kathleen; his 16 children; Michael (Lisa), Patrick (Becky), Mary (Bob), Therese (Diane), Beth (Lee), Laurie (Bob), Margaret (Conrad), Carl, Rose (Brian), Rita (Kevin) Nick (Melissa), Sarah (Rachid), Anne (David), Amy, Matt (Reecie) and Joe; his 33 grandchildren; and his brother, Peter (Dianna, Jennifer, Ben). Preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Catherine Wagner of Iowa. Ed served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. In the summer of 1960, he, Kathleen, and their then small family moved from Milwaukee, WI to Scottsdale. Ed was employed by Mountain Bell (Qwest) Phone Company for 30 years. (CWA representative). He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish for over 44 years and a dedicated Eucharistic Adorer for the past 18 years. Ed was very active in youth sport activities with O. L. P. H. School, the City of Scottsdale and the old YMCA. Coaching, teaching and inspiring his children as well as other young athletes was one of his passions. Ed believed that "a few good people do make a difference. " That was who he was. Ed was one of those few who did so much for everyone else, no questions asked. This is the gift that he leaves with us today. He is an inspiration to us all. The character of a man's life is not judged by the number of people he loved, but rather by the number of people who loved him. He has touched the lives of so many. He will be deeply missed. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Friday at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale. A Funeral Mass will be 1 PM Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 3801 N. Miller Road, Scottsdale. She served as a Navy lieutenant in World War II and had been a services representative two years for Mountain Bell after coming her in 1950 from Milwaukee. Ann Walentiny, age 66, passed away August 30, 2004 Monday, the loving wife and best friend of Gene Walentiny. Ann was born on May 6, 1938, in Walla Walla, Washington. Ann was a woman who loved life and her family with all her heart. Sports, sailing, loving her husband, children and grandchildren are what she lived for. All who knew her were better off just having known her. Her loving heart and lust for life will be missed by all. Ann is survived by her husband, Gene, and their children, David and his wife Stacey, Mark and his wife Viviane, Renne and her husband Rich, and Kim. Together they have 8 grandchildren, Tanner, Janay, Shane, Danielle, Keith, Corey, Troy and Anthony. Ann was a much loved and treasured wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Kingman - Bobby Ray Walker, 43, a deputy sheriff and minister here, died Wed., Dec. 31, 1969, of a heart attack after he was involved in a scuffle with a teen-ager. He and another deputy stopped two cars late Tuesday night north of Kingman for investigation of drunken driving. The scuffle occurred while the deputies were questioning the occupants of the car. He was taken to Mohave General Hospital where he died. Mr. Walker was the pastor of Emanuel Baptist Church. WALKER, Sandra
Sandra (Sandy) Walker went to be with her savior on September 10, 2004. Sandy was born on May 13, 1958 in Abilene, Texas. She graduated from Altus (Okla.) High School in 1976, and one year later she and Kent Walker were married on May 21, 1977. Together they had two children, Lindsay and Cameron. Sandy dedicated her life to serving her family and her Lord. Her life was a testament to the strength and peace that only God can provide. When diagnosed with cancer in September 2000, she fought hard and lived a life full of hills and valleys, relying on the Lord to sustain her the entire time. Her favorite chapter in the Bible was Psalm 23: "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me" (verse 4a). Sandy is survived by her husband and two children; her mother Mary Mahaney and her husband Dave; her father Bob Dudeck and his wife Bobbie; her brother David Dudeck and his wife Judy; her mother-in-law Vennie Walker; her brother-in-law Randall and his wife Kathy; her sister-in-law Janice and her husband Mark; her sister-in-law Joan and her husband Walter; and her brother-in-law Craig. WALLACE, Tom, Sr.
Pasadena, CA, Tom Wallace, Sr., pioneer in radio nationally, died May 8, 1967, in California where he had been a resident for two months. He was a native of Bisbee, AZ, and graduated from the University of Arizona in 1922. He entered the radio business as early as 1918 when he sang on the first station in San Diego while serving in the Navy. In 1949, Mr. Wallace and the late Tom Brenneman received federal authorization for Radio station KTKT in Tucson, and Mr. Wallace came to Tucson to take over the operation in 1951. Kearny -- Dr. James M. Walsh, 81, a physician who joined the staff of the United Verde Copper Co. in 1918 at Jerome, died Sept. 21, 1967, in a Tempe hospital. After he graduated from the University of Michigan in 1908, he served briefly with the Wolverine and Mohawk Mining Co. before coming to Jerome. He left Jerome in 1933 for three years at Boron, CA, with Pacific Borax Co. He returned to Jerome until 1942 when he left to head the medical department of the U.S. Smelting and Refining Co. in Midvale, UT. Dr. Walsh helped open Marcus J. Lawrence Memorial Hospital at Cottonwood in 1945 and served four years as Pima Co Medical Officer. He was born in Prescott, Ontario. Raymond Valentine Waltz, 74, Died 9/23/04. Born 10/2/1929 in Phoenix and grew up in Tempe. Ray was on the swimming and diving team at Tempe high school and was a lifeguard at Tempe Beach pool. He was a Korean war veteran. He retired from Mountain Bell after 32 years of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Ray also served as the Vice President of the Arizona Wildlife Federation in the mid 70's and was an avid fisherman. In his last years Ray loved to hunt for crystals in the Arizona outdoors and make custom jewelry. He is survived by his life partner of 20 years Sandra Augustadt, Sister Joanne Roepke, Children: Matthew, Stephan, Dana Montegnase, and Bryan, Their mother Dorothy Waltz, and 5 grandchildren. Nelson M. Wandrey, 66, passed away on September 13, 2004 in Paulden, Arizona. He was born December 12, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois, grew up in Traverse City, Michigan and Markham, Illinois where he graduated from Bremen Township High School. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1959 and then served several years in the reserves. Nelson and his family moved to Glendale, Arizona in 1969 where he worked as a District Manager for W. A. Taylor Co. Nelson is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Alexander, Jennifer Aykens, Natalie Tipton, and Ginger DeLallo; seven grandchildren, Jenna, Alyssa, Bronson, Samantha, Abigail, Madeleine, and Bridget; his mother, Linnea Wandrey; sisters, Dorothy Vagnieres and Linda Stanley and brothers, William and Kurt Wandrey and many nieces and nephews; Janet Wandrey, his former wife and Charlene Dethmers his long time companion. George's middle name "Bradford" is after an ancestor from England on his father's side who was the First Governor of Plymouth Colony. He is preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Norville Parker; first wife, Jean of over 30 years; second wife, Peggy of almost 6 years. He is survived by his children, daughter, Sheri (Jim) Farmer; sons, Larry (Linda) Bowles and Richard Bowles; and granddaughter, Briana (Alejando) Gonzales. He will be greatly missed by friends and family. He had a heart of gold. We will all hold something dear about him. Nancy Rae Spilman Warren, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Sept. 16, just two short days before her 69th birthday. She had courageously battled complications due to West Nile Virus. Nancy is survived by daughters Nancy Wibel and Sandra Adams and son Rodney Warren as well as 4 grandchildren, Terry, Brian, Ricky Wibel and Janelle Adams and 3 great-grandchildren. Waterman, 49, owner of the Desert Star Cocktail Lounge, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 1967, of a heart attack en route to Scottsdale Baptist Hospital Mr. Waterman, 3231 N. 63rd Place, had been employed by the Santa Fe after moving here in 1942 from Milwaukee. After leaving the railroad ten years ago he operated the restaurant at Thunderbird Bowling Lanes. He owned the cocktail lounge the past two years. He was born in South Dakota. Cheryl Dianne Watkins, 58, of Scottsdale, was born on August 29, 1946 in Portland, Oregon and passed away on September 3 in Scottsdale. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Stan; daughters Tracey Florian (Texarkana, Texas), Amy Matson (Chandler), and Heather (Scottsdale); son Anthony (Gilbert); and three grandchildren Joseph Florian, Kelsey Florian, and Olivia Matson. Cheryl grew up in Salem, Oregon graduating from South Salem High School in 1964. She attended Western Oregon State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology in 1972. She later completed her Secondary Education Teaching Certificate at the University of Washington and taught at Bellevue High School in Bellevue, Washington for 10 years. An active person her entire life, Cheryl enjoyed numerous interests including gardening, travel, whitewater rafting, boating, photography, snow skiing, fishing, flying, and geneology. WATKINS, Emma
Emma Watkins, 78, who came to Douglas in 1906 from Texas, died at Beatitudes Rest Home Tues., May 2, 1967. Mrs. Watkins was the widow of L. H. Watkins who had been in the mining equipment business in southern Arizona. They had resided in Douglas, Nogales, and Carlsbad, NM. He died in 1954. Mrs. Watkins was born in California.
