Rudolph "Pops" Edward Vadovich, 82, passed away on July 19, 2006. He was
born on June 19, 1924, in Breckenridge, Michigan, to Rudolph L. Vadovich and
Johanna Wech. He was one of eight children. He was in the U.S. Navy WWII and
served on the S.S. Eugene Hale, the U.S.S. Yorktown, Randolph, and Leyte. He
enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Pops married
and raised nine children. He is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters,
two brothers, and one grandson. He is survived by his sister Helen, his nine
children, one son-in-law, one daughter-in-law, 16 grandchildren, and 6
great-grandchildren. His ashes will be scattered at sea in a Naval Ceremony.

Tucson -- Mrs. Hiliriva Rivas Valencia is
dead at 111. Believed to have been Tucson's oldest resident. Mrs. Valencia was
born in Sonora, Mexico, and came to Arizona in 1912 to escape the raids of
Pancho Villa. She had 13 brothers and sisters, many of whom lived to be more
than 100. She had 16 children, 56 grandchildren, and more than 90

to 1950 by the US Public Housing Authority in Seattle before retiring to Phoenix
20 years ago. He was born in Chicago and was graduated from the Armour Institute

William A. "Bill" Van Den Burg, 81, of
Independence died July 15, 2006. Bill was born in Kansas City, Missouri on June
23, 1925 the son of Antonius P. "Tony" and Elizabeth Louise (Voss) Van Den Burg.
He was a graduate of Shawnee Mission North High School. He was a Navy Corpsman
and was assigned to the 4th Marine Division of the 23rd Battalion. He served
during World War II in the Battles of Roi Namur, Tinian, Saipan and Iwo Jima and
was awarded two purple hearts and recommended for the Bronze Star. He lived in
Phoenix from 1967 until 1986 when he returned to the Kansas City area. He
married Alice Irene Garrett in Olathe, Kansas on September 22, 1945. She
survives. He is also survived by four daughters: Alice "Lynn" Yeamans and her
husband Ken of Cibilo, Tx., "Mary" Louise Johnson and her husband Harley of
Gardner, Ks., Virginia Anne "Jenny" Davis and her husband Jerry of Peebles, Ohio
and Lora Jane "Lori" Van Becelaere of Independence, twelve grandchildren and
eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister
Rita Schmidt, a daughter Rita Lorene Van Den Burg who died on February 16, 1960
and a granddaughter Katherine "Kathy" Anne (Yeamans) Rager. Speaks Suburban
Chapel made arrangements. Parish Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial were
celebrated at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Independence. Interment at St.

Helen Adeline Van Vickle died
on Sunday, June 18, 2006 in Sun City West, AZ. On December 05, 1926 Adeline was
born to E. Jay and Gertrude Ellis in Holyoke, Colorado. She was raised on a farm
in Colorado. Her parents moved the family to Sioux City, Iowa. While dancing at
the Tomba Ballroom in Sioux City, Iowa in 1947, she met Van. They were married
in 1948, and spent over 57 years together. Van and Adeline moved to Sun City
West in 1994. Van preceded Adeline in death by exactly four months to the day.
Adeline is survived by her sister Hazel Putnam, her brother George Ellis, her
daughters & sons-in-law Kathy & Gabriel Velasquez and Linda & Scott Pangrle, and
her granddaughters and their families Ana, Sasha & Madeline Kukulj and Julie,
Jack & Tate Myers, and Sheryl, Jeff, Nicolas & Jett Krueger. Memorial service
was held at the Desert Garden United Church, 18818 N. 128th Ave., Sun City West,

69, passed away 11/18/06 in Mesa of renal cancer. He was born 7/14/37 in New
Brighton MN. He joined the Navy in 1954, as a Seabee, and served three tours of
duty in Vietnam. He made Arizona his home in 1977 and spent the next 29 years
here. He is survived by wife, Pat, and his children; Lisa, Randy & Rhonda, and

Arizona in 1984. Here, Janet took a job with Samaritan Banner and became an
active member of Valley Presbyterian Church. Janet devoted her life to being a
cherished mother, loving wife, and incredible friend. She was always a positive
person and believed in the good of mankind. Even in the grips of cancer she
never complained and kept a smile on her face right up to the end. She had a
well-lived life. Janet is survived by her husband Paul; daughter Susan; son
David,and wife Elizabeth,and twin grandbabies Bridget and Garret. Michigan
survivors include her brother John Toepel and nieces Jenny and Becky. Janet
enjoyed quilting, traveling and reading, but she especially loved time with her

Deborah Vaughn was born June 30, 1951 in Flushing, NY. She was the
daughter of Stanley and Mildred Gerstenfeld. She passed away in Mesa on June 26,
2006 after a courageous battle with various medical conditions. Debbie spent the
first part of her life in Southern California where she met her husband Raimund
Vaughn. After having a son, Eric, they moved to AZ where they have spent the
last 28 years. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Raimund; her son Eric
Vaughn and his wife Andrea; and her brother Steven Gerstenfeld and his wife
Judi. A grandchild, Edward James, is due in early October. She is preceded in
death by her parents. Visitation was at Bunker's Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial
