SABINE, Creta Lucille
Creta Lucille Dambacher Sabine was born on
October 3, 1918 in Prairie, OK. She was the seventh of eight children born to
William and Pearl Dambacher. As fate would have it, six of the children survived
and they were left without their mother. Creta was the youngest of the six and
learned very early the value of a hard days work. Her father was a farmer and
everyone in the family needed to help to make life successful. The older
children helped with the younger ones and the family grew unbelievably close.
They remained close their entire lives, always there for each other no matter
what. Thus lessons of love and faithfulness were begun in Creta's young life.
Creta was an exceptionally bright child and loved learning and education. She
excelled in school and this began her striving for further education. An early
marriage was what she desired most and gave up her dream of a college degree to
marry William L. Sabine at the age of sixteen. The marriage would continue 67
years until his death. A year after they married a daughter was born and Creta
took care of the baby, her husband and held a full time job. She was a helpmate
to William and encouraged him to get a degree in college. Again Creta thought of
her family and another daughter was born to them. All the while she cared for
them, worked full time and went to night school to prepare for her future as a
leader in the business world. She received her Bachelor's Master's and Doctoral
degrees in Education from Arizona State University hour by hour, class by class.
As she progressed and learned, she began to move up the career ladder. The
little farm girl from the Midwest was becoming a professional woman. She loved
work and most of all she loved learning. Her professional accomplishments range
from Business Manager to Principal to Professor at Illinois State University.
She was a member of numerous professional organizations such as AASBO, Phi Delta
Kappa, and received the Eagle Service Award for Arizona Business Officials. Her
life came to an end on August 24, 2004 at the exact time her husband passed on
two years to the day earlier. Services will be held at Dayspring United
Methodist Church, 1365 E. Elliot Rd., Tempe, AZ on Saturday, August 28, at 10:00
a. m. She is survived by their two daughters, Genevieve S. Cannon, Sharon K.
Fitch; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was indeed a very
special woman. Meldrum Mortuary handled the arrangements, www. meldrummortuary.

SANSONE, Salvatore C.
Salvatore "Sal" C. Sansone. In
Loving Memory of "Sal" March 4, 1928 - September 4, 2003. To some you are
forgotten, to others a part of the past. But to those of us who love and lost
you, your love will always last. It broke our hearts to lose you; you did not go
alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home. A heart of gold
stopped beating to put shining eyes at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us
he only takes the best. Our family chain is broken and nothing is the same, but
as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again. We love and miss you
greatly. Your loving wife, Jeanette, children, grandchildren, family and
friends. Published in the Arizona Republic on 9/4/2004.
