PEARCE, Minnie L.
Eagar - Mrs. Minnie L. Pearce, 84, an Arizona native, died Sun., Mar. 1, 1970, at the White Mountain Community Hospital in Springerville. She was born in Nutrioso in a fort built by her father. Her parents were among the first pioneer settlers in the area, having been sent from Utah by the LDS Church in 1880. Mrs. Pearce had lived here since 1906 and was active in church work until the past two or three years. Survivors include seven sons, Niel, Grover, Vinton, Armond and Kent, all of California, and Ivan of Oregon and Pratt of Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Alta Peters of California and Zola Pearce of Eagar; one brother, Ellis Lund, of Eagar; 32 grandchildren. William D. Peays (Bill), 78, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2004. He was born on November 1, 1925 in Gillette, Wyoming. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from the U. P. Railroad in 1987 and moved to Sun City West, Arizona in 1994. He was an avid golfer. Bill leaves behind his adoring wife of 57 years, Betty, and two children; a son, Bill Jr. and his wife Claudia from Kansas City, Missouri; a daughter, Debi Kerner from Bremerton, Washington; four grandchildren: Lori Bennett, Joshua Peays, Jenifer Peays and Paul William Peays; two great grandbabies: Haley Marie Lisson and Alexis Peays; one brother, M. PECK, Ellis B.
Pima -- Ellis B. Peck, 72, a 20 year resident of Pima, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 1967, in Safford Inn Hospital following a long illness. Mr. Peck was born in Bryce. A farmer and a rancher, he was best known in the area as cattle inspector for the Arizona State Sanitation Board, a job which he held for 10 years until his retirement in 1964. Funeral services were held in the Pima Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial in Bryce Cemetery. Friends may call at Caldwell Funeral Home, Safford. Pima -- George A. Peck, 83, a retired farmer and cattle inspector, died Friday, May 5, 1967, in Safford Inn Hospital. Mr. Peck was born in Nutrioso and came with his parents to Bryce in 1885. He moved to Pima in 1961. He was bishop of the Bryce Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 15 years. Surviving are his wife, Almeda; six sons, Delbert, Andrew and Chet, all of Pima, Von and Wendell, both of Safford, and Gordon of McNeal; three daughters, Mrs. Irene Daniels, Tucson, Mrs. Letha Matthews, Superior, and Mrs. Laree Ray, Morenci; two brothers, Bill and Ellis Peck, both of Pima. 5/7/1967.

Her husband, Bil, was the deputy sheriff in Safford for 12 years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. "Pete" Pederson, 45, an engineer 15 years at Goodyear Aerospace Corp., died Saturday, Oct. 29, 1974, of an apparent heart attack after he and a friend had killed a deer while hunting near Payson and were loading it onto a pickup. Mass for Pedracine, a Scottsdale resident, was said today. He was born in Wisconsin and moved to Arizona three months ago. He served in the Marines during World War II. He was a member of the men's association at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. PEKAR, Agnes Nanny
Agnes Nancy (Stipsits) Pekar of Westbank, British Columbia, Canada, formerly of Vernon and Nanoose Bay, passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 29, 2004. Agnes was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, on August 4, 1933 where she became a registered nurse. She paused for sixteen years to raise three sons, then returned to nursing specializing in geriatric care. She lived throughout North America as family was moved across the continent. Her passions were love of family, her faith and her profession. Books, culinary arts, bridge and golf became important pasttimes. Agnes is lovingly remembered and will be greatly missed by her husband, Edward; three sons: Jeffrey (Florence), Christopher (Marcia and Paul), Matthew (Terrie and three grandchildren, Brittany, Chelsea and Brett); also her two sisters Sylvie Cioran and Norma Ducau; also other relatives and friends. She was loved by and will be missed by many. A celebration of life service to honour Agnes will take place in Westbank, British Columbia, Canada, for close family and friends. PELLETIER, Harold W.
Dr. Harold W. Pelletier was born May 30, 1914 in Winner, South Dakota to Elmer George and Abigail PELLETIER and passed away in Dallas, Texas on January 3, 2007. Dr. Pelletier was a veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force, 1942-1949; he was also a member of the American Legion, Music Teachers National Association, Phi Delta Kappa, Phoenix Symphony Orchestra, 1950-1955, Phoenix College Symphony, Tempe Symphony, Madden-Ford Ensemble, and the Ernie Palmquist Big Band. He received his Ph.D in music from Arizona State University in 1962. Dr. Pelletier also taught public schools in Phoenix, at Loma Linda and Machan Elementary Schools. Preceded in death by his wife Mary PELLETIER. He is survived by his daughter Sho-mei PELLETIER and husband Dwight Shambley; two grandchildren Aaron Joshua Pelletier-Shambley (17), and Alexis Jessica Pelletier-Shambley (10); brother George "Bill" PELLETIER and wife Marie PELLETIER; and his sister Jo Ellen PELLETIER SCHALK. 29 Sept 1886 - 30 Sept 1979 Mesa - Services for Otto H. Pelletier, 93, were in Carr Mortuary, Tempe. Mr. Pelletier lived in the Valley since 1948 and died September 30, 1979. He was founder of the Bank of Colome, S.D. and served as its president until retiring due to ill health in 1944. A 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner, he had been in Republican politics in South Dakota, serving as auditor of Tripp County and secretary of the State Highway Commission. Pelott, 90, who moved to Scottsdale in 1958 from Evanston, Ill., and was a member of Paradise Valley Country Club, died Oct. 30, 1979, in Beverly Manor Care Center, Sun City. Mrs. Pelott, 112 Mountain Shadows West, is survived by her son, Hugh Hamilton; and four grandsons. Private services were Friday in the Family home, Messinger Mortuary announced. Funeral services and burial for Alpha W. Pemberton, 76, who died January 6, 1960, in the home of a son, Leonard, 5242 E. Cambridge, were in Littleton, Colorado, Messinger Mortuary and Chapel in Scottsdale announced. A native of Taneyville, Missouri, Mr. Pemberton, a retired farmer, had been visiting in Arizona the past five winters. His home was in Calhan, Colorado. PERKINS, Linwood Clyde
Linwood Clyde Perkins, Jr. "Skip" Father of John and Robert, grandfather of Jarrett, stepfather of Matthew and Liesi, passed peacefully in his home in Corte Madera, Ca. on September 2nd, 2004. Born to Linwood and Maxine Perkins in Los Angeles on August 27th, 1928, he and his family relocated to Yuma, Az. in 1933. He was Fourth Avenue Grammar School Salutatorian in 1942, graduated from Yurna High School (The Criminals) in 1946, and began enrollment at the University of Arizona later that year. Obtaining his LL. B from the University of Arizona in 1952, Skip began a long and distinguished career practicing law; a career that he enjoyed immensely. Becoming State Bar of Arizona member #652, he worked in Yuma and Tucson in the 1950's, and also served in the Air Force as a JAG officer at Camp Parks (now Dublin/Santa Rita), Ca., from 1952 to 1955. In 1960 he became the 13th attorney for the firm of Fennemore, Craig, Allen, and McClennon where he practiced for the next 33 years. In 1995 Mr. Perkins became an administrative law judge for the Social Security Administration in which capacity he served in Los Angeles until 1999 and in San Rafael, Ca. until his retirement in 2001. Affiliations included the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel of which he served as president in 1985, and the American College of Trial Lawyers into which he was inducted in 1982. He participated briefly on the Board of Directors of the Maricopa County Bar Association, and was with the Arizona Kidney Foundation for ten years, serving as president in 1990. Skip was actively involved with Yuma and Phoenix area University of Arizona alumni organizations. Mr. Perkins' many and varied interests included history, travel, college football, sailing, and the art of conversation. A man of integrity, a man of honor, a man of his word, a man with an unerring sense of fair play, he brought out the best in the many people who were fortunate to have him in their lives. Always a gracious gentleman, Skip unfailingly loved and guided his family, friends, and associates with a magical mix of wit, acuity, and compassion. Haec olim meminisse iuvabit. Francisco Peru, 75, was born to his parents Valente and Laura Peru in Morenci, AZ on July 25, 1929. He passed away on September 15, 2004. A beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, Francisco is preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Emma Peru, his son John Angel, his parents and six siblings. A. Theo Peterson, 81, passed away peacefully in his home September 28, 2004. He was born November 6, 1922 in Lakeside, AZ to Hyrum and Anna Rogers Peterson. Theo graduated from Snowflake Union High School in 1941. He served in the Navy during World War II. He married Imogene Flake on September 30 1947 in the Manti Temple. Theo has been a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in various capacities. He worked as a carpenter at the Paper Mill for 24 years. He enjoyed farming and ranching, and was especially devoted to his family. Glendale - Sophia B. Peterson, 98, was born in Germany and died Thursday, June 27, 1974, in Phoenix Baptist Hospital. Mary F. Petrucci, Beloved mother, friend and spiritual companion went home to be with the Lord on August 27, 2004. A true believer in the Lord, her life became a testimony of His Goodness and Faithfulness. Mary was a gentle soul, serving Him at Word of Grace Church for over 20 years. She devoted so much of herself, her time and spiritual commitment to those in need. Mary retired from Fry's Bakery Dept., after working at Mesa High School Cafeteria for several years. PETRUZZELLA, Marie
Marie Petruzzella, Marie passed on September 6th, 2004. She was born on March 6th, 1937, in Brooklyn New York. She moved to Phoenix in October of 1972 to provide a better health environment for her two children. She may have left New York, but New York never left her! She is survived by her husband, Steven, her two children Louise (Rockie), and Leo (Duke), and her three grandchildren, Steven, Cassandra, and Nicolas due in December of this year. She loved her family and life more than anyone will know. She will be missed tremendously. She was a loving wife, the most awesome mom and ReRe, and "one helluva a tomato!" PETRY, Ruth Mary
Ruth Mary Petry, age 88, passed away peacefully September 17, 2004. Born in Syracuse New York on June 20, 1916 Ruth spent her life in the field of aviation. After graduation from Radcliff University in 1940 Ruth worked as an aerial photographer and researcher with John Hopkins, and Cornell. She was a member of the Women Air Force Service Pilots (WASPS) 1943-1944 and moved to Phoenix in 1957 with her employer, Aviation Crash Injury Research. She also worked for Sperry Corporation until her retirement. Ruth's love of aviation led her to take up soaring at an early age. Along with her brother Pete, they were both lifetime members of the Soaring Society of America and ardent supporters of Arizona Soaring where she spent weekends being a tow pilot for many years. Her niece, Janet Fagan and grandniece, Briana Fagan, survive her. Services will be private. Arrangements entrusted to A. L. Moore Grimshaw Bethany Chapel. Alice Pettycrew, 74, a Phoenix native who graduated from Arizona State University and had taught in the Mesa School System, died Jan. 3, 1982, in Good Samaritan Hospital. Mrs. Pettycrew, 1742 E. Rudolph V. Petzold, 86, who had managed a laundry, died Jan. 29, 1982, in the Veterans' Administration Medical Center. Mr. Petzold was born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., and came to Phoenix in 1960. Show Low - Clayton M. Pew, 73, who lived here since 1953 and ran the Pew Distributing Co. died Oct. 28, 1979, at Navapache Hospital. Mr. Pew, who was born and raised in Mesa, was office manager for Rainbo Bakery in Phoenix for 20 years before moving to Show Low. Services at the Second Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus of Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial in Mesa City Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Virginia; two sons, Walter and Michael; two daughters, Marilyn Leffler and Pat Jorgenson; two brothers; 16 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Loe Mixon Peyton, 73, died Thurs., Dec. 10, 1970, in her home, 2139 E. Solano Dr. Mrs. Peyton moved here in 1962 from Shreveport, LA. She was born in Cotton Valley, LA. PFEIFFER, Arthur E.
7 Oct 1897 - 14 Oct 1979 Scottsdale - Services for Arthur E. Pfeiffer, 82, a past director of Northeast Shoe & Leather Association, were in Valley Presbyterian Church where he was a deacon. Mr. Pfeiffer moved here in 1969 from Massachusetts and died Oct. 14, 1979. He formed Pfeiffer, Inc., a national distribution organization for his patented, created and designed specialty footwear. He was a past registrar of the Scottsdale Rotary Club and named a Paul Harris fellow of Rotary International in January. Mr. Pfeiffer was a member of the Navy's original Golden Eagle Aviators 1193, American Legion Post 282, Arizona Country Club and a past secretary-treasurer of the Dartmouth Club. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1920. Survivors include his wife, Dairis; children, Karen Hampton, Bruce Pfeiffer, Barry and Daniel Hill; a brother and four grandchildren. 17 Oct 1979
