Dr. Alfe T. O'Brian, 69, who died Saturday, January 2, 1960, in the Phoenix
Veterans Administration Hospital, will be Thursday in Miles Mortuary chapel
here. Arizona Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements in Phoenix. Dr.
O'Brian, who had practiced medicine in Phoenix, Eloy, and Miami since 1935 in
Arizona, came to Phoenix in 1929 from Colorado. He was a World War I veteran,
serving with the marine corps, which he joined before the war broke out. Wounded
in 1918, he was awarded the Purple Heart as well as the Croix de Guerre by
France. Dr. O'Brian, born in Pasadena, California, was a graduate of the medical
college of Taylor University in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was a member of Post
1441, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Miami. He helped organize Post 6306 of the
VFW in Eloy. He also was a member of the Arizona Blind Association. He is
survied by his wife, Elizabeth, of Miami. The Arizona Republic Tuesday, January

Nora was born February 22, 1921, in Clarkdale, Arizona. She was the daughter of
the late John M. and Julia A. O'Brien. She was preceded in death by her parents,
three brothers: Father John "Jack" O'Brien, Stephen O'Brien and Jerrry O'Brien;
and a sister, Kathleen O'Brien, a. k. a. Sister Mary Stephen, a member of the
Order of the Sisters of Mercy. Nora is survived by one sister, Mary Ellen
O'Brien of Phoenix. She is also survived by two nephews, John O'Brien and Erin
O'Brien and six nieces, Kathleen Cureton, Patti O'Brien, Margaret Perry, Eileen
O'Brien, Shelia Sittinger and Kerry George, 14 great nieces and nephews and 7
great-great nieces and nephews. Nora graduated from Clarkdale High School in
1938 and entered the nursing program at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix. She
completed her nursing degree at "St. Joe's" in 1942. She was a nurse at St.
Joe's and various nursing homes in the Valley until her retirement in 1984. Nora
was always very active in the Catholic Church. She was active in St. Agnes
parish for many years, a member of the Third Order Franciscans, and the Blue
Army. She was devoted to the Blessed Mother. She was also very accomplished at
making rosaries. She made countless rosaries in her lifetime and her hand-made
rosaries can be found all over the world. She also collected rosaries and had an
award winning rosary collection. Nora was a simple woman with a loving heart,
generous to a fault and never let anyone remain a stranger for long. She will be
greatly missed. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Agnes Church Sat. 11:00am with

Dr. John
J. O'Connor, resident physician at St. Francis Hospital in his native San
Francisco from 1926 to 1928 and served on the hospital's board of trustees from
1938 to 1965, died Wed., Dec. 9, 1970, in St. Joseph's Hospital. Dr. O'Connor
graduated from the University of California in 1920 and received his medical
degree with honors in 1926 from St. Louis University. He was engaged in the
practice of medicine from 1928 to 1969 in San Francisco before retiring to
Scottsdale in May of this year. He also was a longtime member of the medical
staff of the Southern Pacific Hospital at San Francisco and an Army veteran of
World War I. Survivors include his wife of Scottsdale; a son, John III of
Paradise Valley; a daughter, Mrs. W. Collier Barnett of Garden City, NY, and
five grandchildren. Cremation followed private services. 12/12/1970.

their two daughters. Leila and Carl retired to AZ in 1969 and settled at

Diamondbacks, making friends, cooking and butchering. His ultimate passion in

COOLIDGE - Alvin Howard O'Dell, 83, of Coolidge died May 16, 2003 in Casa
Grande. A memorial luncheon will be held at 2 p. m. May 31 at Coolidge-Florence
Elks Lodge. Mr. O'Dell was born July 1, 1919 in Willis, Okla., to Alvin W. and
Leona Starr O'Dell, who were farmers growing corn and oats. He was one of six
children. The family moved to Sanger, Calif., in 1936, during the Great
Depression. He served in Germany during World War II, was wounded and returned
with a Purple Heart. He later worked as a carpenter in Sanger. He married and
later had four children. The family loved their life raising Appaloosa horses.
In the late 1960s, he moved to Casa Grande and met and married Linda Kay Lynch
of Coolidge. A daughter was born to them. Mr. O'Dell also was a building
contractor and blueprint instructor at Central Arizona College. He later was an
underground engineer at Lakeshore Mine for the Hecla and Noranda mining
companies. He retired in 1983. He and his wife traveled through Oregon,
California and Arizona, visiting their children. Their longtime passion was
fishing and relaxing in Show Low. After his wife died in 1995, he continued to
travel, fish and enjoy his new hobby, playing with his youngest granddaughter,
Skyler K. Youtsey. Survivors include three daughters, Becky O'Dell-Cervantes and
Marsha O'Dell-Freeze of Arkansas and Shawn O'Dell-Youtsey of Coolidge; two sons,
Kenneth O'Dell of Arkansas and James O'Dell of Sanger; a sister, Elizabeth
O'Dell; two brothers, Horrel and Leonard O'Dell; and many grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a
sister, Ruth, and two brothers, Dick and Hershel. Memorial contributions may be

Maud (Maudie) Jacobson O'Dell Together Forever
Maud Jacobson O'Dell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and
great-great-grandmother, is now reunited with her husband. She passed away on
Aug. 23, 2004 at the age of 96. She was loved and respected by many longtime
friends and dearly loved by her family. Born March 1, 1908 in Colonia Dublan,
Mex, Maud was the sixth child of John Aylett Jacobson and Bolettie Larsen
Anderson. She attended Duncan H. S. in Arizona. On Feb. 20, 1926 Maud married
her high school sweetheart, Jewell Cleanon O'Dell in Lordsburg, NM. They were
later sealed in the Mesa AZ Temple (20 Feb. 1930). They are the parents of seven
children, of which three are still living: Norma Lawrence, Wayne and Elwood
O'Dell. Survivors include: 3 children, 19 grand-children, 54
great-grand-children and 6 great-great-grand-children. Services will be held
Aug. 28, 2004 at 11:00 a. m. at the Duncan, AZ Ward Chapel. Friends and family
may come to the viewing one hour before the services. Interment will be at the

services for Mrs. Ingrid Olson, 81, who died yesterday, Jan. 9, 1960, at her
home at 2401 N. 38th Pl., were in Memory Chapel of A.L.Moore & Sons. Dr. Lyle C.

Sweden, came to Arizona in 1932 from Minnesota. Her husband, Olaf N., died in
Phoenix in 1956. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. F. C. King, and a son,

OLSON, Jean
Margaret
Jean Margaret Olson was born to George and Daisy MILLER in Allentown,
Pennsylvania, January 14, 1926. She served as an Army nurse during the Korean
War. She met Dean OLSON while serving in Korea, and they were married in
Allentown on November 6, 1954 and resided in Phoenix since their marriage. In
1960, she received a BS in Nursing at ASU. Jean passed away quietly February 22,
2007, at the age of 81. She was survived by her husband, Dean, of 52 years, and
sons, James, Andrew, and Kerry; five grandchildren, and her sister, Marilyn
SULLIVAN, of Sedona.

Kenneth Axel Olson, 89, of Glendale,
died Feb. 4, 1994. He was a retired mechanical engineer, was born in Chicago.
Survivors include his sons, Roger and Ron and one grandchild. Services private.

Calvin Olson, son of Alfred and Millie Olson was born May 31, 1924 in Fullerton,
Nebraska. He passed away January 16, 2006 in Sun City, AZ. Kenneth is survived
by his wife, Betty Ann Olson, and his children, son Rodney Olson of Aurora, NE,
daughter Karen Warden of Aurora, CO and daughter Christie Bianco of Phoenix, AZ.
Kenneth is also survived by his grandchildren, Missy Bianco of San Francisco,
CA, Kyra Casebolt of Denver, CO and Heather Andersen of Denver, CO and his great
grandchildren, Tyler, Devon, Natalie, Haylee and Russell. 1/22/2006.

Larry K. Olson, 48, of Cave Creek passed away on November 2, 2006. He
was born July 8, 1958 to Margaret and Miles Olson of Salem, Oregon. Larry was
raised in Newberg, Oregon and was the youngest of four siblings. He is survived
by his wife of 29 years, Lorraine Sue Olson; daughter, Jennifer (Ross) Colburn;
son, Jason (Heather) Olson; and four grandchildren, Blake, Marcus and Ava

Oscar M. Olson, age 84, died on February 19, 2006. He was born on June
1, 1921 in a farm house in Russell, Kansas, the son of the late Alta May and
Anthon Jonathan Olson. He married Edna Fern Feil on February 1, 1942. He served
in the WWII Pacific Theatre aboard U.S.S. Windsor Troop Transport. He was Pastor
at Ralston Baptist in Nebraska and the Pastor at NW Baptist in Phoenix. Oscar is
survived by his wife, Edna; 5 children, Pat, Carla, Clint, Anthon and Ruth; 13
grandchildren and 12 great-grand-children. Visitation and services at Northwest
