LUPOLD, R. C.
R. C. "Loop" Lupold, after a
courageous battle with cancer, was called home to rest in the arms of his maker
on Thursday, September 16, 2004. Born in Oak land, CA, Nov. 1, 1925, Loop was 78
years young. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corps during
WWII, earning the American Service Award, a Good Conduct Medal, and a Victory
Medal. After the military, Loop moved his family to Artesia, NM, in 1950 where
he eventually retired from the City of Artesia as City Maintenance Manager.
While in Artesia. Loop was a vital member of First Christian Church Disciples of
Christ, and was also instrumental in the building of Valley Christian Church. In
April 2000, Loop moved to Glendale, AZ. to be close to family, and discovered a
new church family of Glendale Christian Church. Wherever Loop worshipped, he
lovingly served the Lord. Vehicles of any kind were Loops love, from
micro-midget race cars in the 1950s to competition bicycling in the 1990s, in
which he won many gold and silver medals in Senior Olympics bicycling even after
he turned 70 years of age. Loop was a member of Glendale Christian Church where
he raised his voice to God from the choir loft, because music was his life. His
unbounded faith and vivacious, warm openness endeared him to all he touched,
friends and strangers alike. Loop's contagious enthusiasm lit up even the
darkest of rooms. Loop is survived by 3 daughters: Georgia L. Wright (and

friends. The void left by Loop here on earth will be sorely felt, and his open
arms and bear hugs impossible to match. Memorial services for Loop will be held
at 1:00 p. m., Saturday, September 18th, at Glendale Christian Church, 9661 N.
59th Avenue, Glendale, AZ. Loop will be interred at Woodbine Cemetery in
