LABARRE, Helen Louise
Helen Louise Labarre, 53, of 4235 E. McDowell died yesterday in Pueblo, CO, hospital of injuries received Sunday when the car in which she was a passenger overturned 12 miles south of Pueblo. Drive of the vehicle, Alfred J. Labarre, 68, suffered cuts and bruises. Police said the car overturned while pulling a house trailer. Tues., Aug. 1, 1967.

He served in the Navy in World War II and came to Phoenix in 1955 from CA. LACY, Melba V.
Melba V. Lacy, 84, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away August 30, 2004. Melba was born on April 9, 1920 in Wilcox, NE to Herman and Elsie Heidemann. She attended Kearney State Teachers College and earned credentials to teach. She taught in a one-room school in rural NE. In 1941, she married Patrick Lacy. They raised purebred Herefords and later owned Lacy Hardware & Sheet Metal in Kimball, NE. While in Kimball, she served as bookkeeper to American National Bank, Kimball Lockers, Army Corp of Engineers, Co-op Food Store and assisted with the management of Elm Court Motel & Cafe'. In 1970, they moved to Phoenix, AZ where she had several bookkeeping jobs, serving AZ Sparkling Bottled Water/ Gallagher Water Company for many years. Melba had a devout faith in her Savior Jesus Christ and maintained an active membership at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Daughters JoAnn Bissey and Carol Wheeler, grandchildren SFC Grant Bissey, Nicole Hosking, Bret Bissey and Jennifer Springfield, six great grandchildren, one brother Paul Heidemann and one sister Llera Nott survive her. Her husband Pat, son Maurice and grandson Brian Lacy predeceased her. Viewing will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2004 at 10:00 AM with services to begin at 11:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church 6301 W. LADMAN, Harry Laverne
Sun City - Harry Laverne Ladman, 76, who was a high school principal and coach at Blencoe, Iowa, died Nov. 20, 1982, at Boswell Memorial Hospital. Mr. Ladman was born in Castana, Iowa, and moved to Sun City in 1974. He was a Mason and graduated from Iowa State University in 1932. He joined the Farmers Home Administration in 1936 as a county supervisor, retiring in 1968. After retiring he worked in real estate before moving to Sun City. He is survived by his wife, Amy; daughter, Jan Bancroft; son, Dr. Jerry Ladman; and six grandchildren. Memorial services were Friday at Lakeview United Methodist Church, 10298 Thunderbird Blvd. Arrangements were made by Lundberg's Golden Door Chapel. 11/23-24/1982.

John Forrest LaFollette, 74, who had been a pipe fitter for Honeywell in Kansas City, Missouri, for 25 years, died Monday, Oct. 25, 1982, in his Sun City residence. He was born in Knox County, Illinois, and moved to Sun City in 1978 from Prairie Village, Kansas. He was a member of the United Church of Sun City, the Saguaro Chapter of the F.A.R., and the Sun City Men's Golf Association. Survivors include his wife, Betty of Sun City, daughters, Darcy Gerhard of Colorado, Betsy Snyder of Kansas, Amy Edmondson of Glendale, AZ; brother, R. Yuma -- James Doyle Lairmore, 36, died May 16, 1967, as a result of a two-car accident on US 80 a few miles east of Yuma. He was born in Moyer, OK, and moved to Yuma in 1936 where he attended school. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the Army. Suriving are his mother, Dora LAIRMORE, Yuma; five brothers, Charles, Casa Grande, Jack and Bill, both of Yuma, Leon, Whittier and Donald, all of Tucson; three sisters, Mrs. Naomi McKINNEY, Yuma, Mrs. Loren BRUSKAS and Mrs. Merle SCEIS, both of Albuquerque. Jeannette Vehon Lake, 85, passed away 9/1/04 at her home in Apache Junction. She is survived by her husband, Robert Lake, daughters Barbara Cline and Dorothy Lake sons Joe Vehon, Tony Vehon, Thom Vehon, and David Vehon, 15 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. Born in Ohio and raised in Indiana, Jeannette received her Bachelors degree from Hillsdale College, Hillsdale, Michigan, in Home Economics and Science. During WWII served with the American Red Cross in Hawaii. Jeannette moved to Phoenix, in 1959. Founder of Real Estate Investment Company in 1959 (renamed Lake Realty in 1968), Jeannette remained very active in Real Estate as well as the Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce, Apache Junction School District and many other community service projects until her illness forced her to slow down. Viewing and Funeral services will be held at Central Christian Church, 933 N. Lindsay Rd., Mesa, AZ 85213 with burial immediately following at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa. Viewing will be held Monday Sept 13th from 6:30 to 8:00 P. M. and Funeral Tuesday, Sept. 14th at 10:00 A. M. Coolidge -- Services for Everett Edward Lakin, 62, a guard at the State Prison in Florence, will be in Cole and Maud Mortuary here. Burial in Valley Memorial Park in Coolidge. Mr. Lakin, a native of Macon County, Illinois, died Friday, May 4, 1967, in Pinal General Hospital in Florence. He had lived in Coolidge for the past 16 years. Survivors include his wife, Helen, of Coolidge; a daughter, Mrs. George Conrad of Houston; a son, Robert, of Louisville, Kentucky; a stepson, Jack Williams of Buckeye; and four grandchildren. 25 March 1895 - 11 March 1980 Rosary for Anton Lakos, 84, will be today in Glendale Chapel of the Chimes, 7924 N. 59th Ave. Mass was in Ukranian Catholic Church, 4318 W. Clarendon. Mr. Lakos moved to Phoenix in 1970 from Ohio, and died March 11, 1980, in his home at 4232 W. Cinnabar. He was a retired elevator assembler. LAMAR, Emmaline G.
Emmaline G. Lamar of Congress died November 14, 1994, in Phoenix. She was 86. Mrs. Lamar was born in 1908 in Sauk County, Wisconsin. She had lived in Arizona since 1962, coming from Illinois. Mrs. Lamar was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Howard, of Congress; sons Clyde Bimel of Chicago and Henry Bimel of Houston; daughters Ann Pellett of San Antonio, Texas and Marion Chitwood of Phoenix; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Samuel (Sam) J. Lance, born February 13, 1920, passed away Tuesday morning, September 14, 2004 at 12:35 A. M. At his side were Nina, his wife of 53 years; his two daughters: Kathy and Donna, and his grandson, Shawn. Also surviving Sam are his granddaughter, Kristen and two great grandsons: Chase and Thaddaeus. Sam graduated from University of Kansas, was a pilot in the United States Air Force and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was active in many charitable organizations, most notably as a Mason in the Scottish Rite, a Shriner at the Schmitar Temple in Little Rock, Arkansas and the Eastern Star in Enid, Oklahoma. He was also Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge in Garden City, Kansas. His favorite activity was golf, which he was able to enjoy until two months before his death. LASALANDRA, John J.
John J. LaSalandra, passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 5 at the age of 88. He was born in Chicago. During his youth he was a professional boxer, wrestler, and adventurous traveler. After working as a butcher, he left Chicago with his wife and two sons for Texas where he owned and operated a bar and introduced pizza to Dallas. In 1946, John and his family headed West to the San Fernando Valley and began his career in the motion picture industry. During his 30 years as a Construction Coordinator he worked with such directors as Francis Ford Coppola, Sam Peckinpah and Robert Aldrich. He retired to Phoenix, Arizona where he and his wife enjoyed golfing, dancing, traveling and spending time with their family. John is survived by Nancy, his wife of 68 years, his sons John and Sam and granddaughters Zoe and Tobie. An avid bowler and golfer, he was a member of the Sun City Country Club, Sun City Sheriff's Posse, a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, he was a member of the K of C Council in Sun City, Arizona and now Council #8902 Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Temperance, Michigan, where he also is a member. Marion Petra Lawhon, 68, a registered nurse at St. Luke's Hospital for many years, died Tues., Oct. 19, 1982, in Salinas, California. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and came to Arizona 25 years ago. Member of D.E.S. and Trinity Cathedral and was active in the Republic Party. Sedona - Rosary for Christopher J. Lawler, 17, of Harmony Hills, was in Sedona Funeral Home. Christopher died Oct. 4, 1979, in Chavez Canyon from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. LAWLOR, Luke Francis
Luke Francis Lawlor, 77, who managed several restaurants until he retired in 1963, died Nov. 21, 1982, at Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was born in Waterbury, Conn., and moved to Phoenix from Claremont, N.H. in 1955. He served in the Army during World War II. Survived by wife, Ethel; daughters, Carol Fowler, Mary Ellen Ford, Sarah Snyder; sons, Chris and John; and nine grandchildren. Glendale - Charles C. Lawrence, 92, of 7138 N. 45th Ave., who owned the Lawrence Grocery Store at Third Street and Clarendon until he retired in 1950, died Nov. 18, 1982, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Cincinnati and moved to the Valley 36 years ago. He was a Mason. Survivors include his wife, Myrtle; daughter, Lelah N. Duvall; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. 5 Sep 1895 - 3 Mar 1970. Stanley J. Lawrence, 74, who had worked in aerial construction 40 years for the Illinois Bell Telephone Co., died Tuesday, March 3, 1970, in Memorial Hospital. Mr. Lawson died Jan. 27, 1982, in his San Manuel home. He came to Arizona 13 years ago from his native Kansas. He was a Marine Corps veteran of Korea and a member of the Elks and Moose in San Manuel. LAWTHER, Hazel Alta
Hazel Alta Lawther, 92, of Mesa, Arizona passed away on September 2, 2004. She was born July 2, 1912 in Springfield, Missouri to Anna Belle Tripp and John Pinkney Knuckles. Hazel grew up in St. Louis where she met and married Thomas Edward Bryant. Hazel and Ed had two children, Sheryl Howell and Linda Lewis-O'Toole. Hazel worked in many capacities during her life. She worked for the U. S. Government and served as the Delores County Treasurer for several years. Hazel was widowed in 1962 and in June, 1970, married her best friend and companion, Robert E. Lawther. Hazel is survived by her husband of 34 years, Robert E. Lawther, daughters Sheryl Howell, Linda Lewis-O'Toole, Betty Brown, Judy Lish and sister Earlene Harris. Hazel and Robert have 18 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Hazel and Robert served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the London, England Temple. She enjoyed expressing her artistic abilities by painting beautiful portraits, and most importantly, loved spending quality time with her family and loved ones. Hazel was a compassionate woman who lived her life serving God, and although she is gone from our sight, will never be forgotten. All that we are or can be we owe to our mom. Visitation will be Monday, September 6, 2004, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Bunker's Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 7, 2004, at 10:00 AM at the Fraser Ward, 933 E. Brown Road, Mesa, with visitation also one hour prior to the service at the church. Sun City - Geraldine Mafalda Laxton, 79, a retired credit manager, died Dec. 17, 1982, at Boswell Hospital. Mrs. Laxton was a Hastings, MI, native and moved to Sun City from Detroit in 1970. She was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church, Order of Eastern Star, Oriental Shrine Sphinx Court No.65 and the State Federation of Garden Clubs in Michigan. She was past president of Qadash Temple Daughters of the Nile No. 35, I.O.S. Sun Unit and the Society of Engineers Wives in Detroit. She is survived by her husband, Amon. Pima -- Funeral services for Cassie May Lazear, 66, a resident of Arizona for 56 years who died Monday, August 28, 1967, at her home, were in Pima Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A native of Mexico, Mrs. Lazear came to Arizona and lived in Mesa until 1929 when she moved with her husband to Pine. They resided in Pima for the past seven years. Sue is survived by her husband, William; two daughters, Mrs. Anna Jane Jarvis of Pima and Mrs. Alice Faye Long of Phoenix; four brothers, Julius R. Johnson of Mesa; Clyde R. Johnson of Sunflower; Vernon R. Johnson of Mesa; Lionel H. Johnson of Stewart Mountain; three sisters, Mrs. Ann Peterson and Mrs. Dot Smith, both of Mesa, and Mrs. Naomi Appleton of Chandler.
