HOAG, Leslie F.
Leslie F. Hoag, 71, was born in Rutland, Vermont, and died Monday, July 8, 1974, in Barrow Neurological Institute of St. Joseph's Hospital. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD, in 1925 and served several years until resigning to enter the field of mining engineering. He sold equipment in Lebanon, PA, Salt Lake City, and Johannesburg, South Africa. He came to Phoenix in 1944 from Sale Lake City. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral and the Phoenix Country Club. Wife, Harriet; children, Lt. Cmdr. Robert W. Hoag, Harriet H. Haskell and Frances Hoag; and seven grandchildren. Services were in the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. 7/9/1974.

HOBBS, John Curtis
John Curtis Hobbs, 16, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1982, from injuries received in a helicopter accident in Eloy. Services for Hobbs, a Chandler resident, were in Central Christian Church, Mesa. He had been active in the Central CHristian Church and attended Dobson High School where he was a drummer in the band. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Arizona Rotocraft Club. He held a student pilot's license. HOBEL, Florence Mary
Florence Mary Hobel, 81, passed away in her home September 23, 2004. Born April 26, 1923 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, she married John Hobel and moved to Phoenix in 1951. Widowed in 1956, she served as both mother and father to her three children. After retiring she was a passionate community activist. She served as secretary and one of the founding members of the Sunbeam Neighborhood Association. Her kindness, generosity and friendship will live on in the hearts of those who have known her. She was an inspiration to those she met, touching not only their hearts but their souls. She is survived by her children Mary Jenkins of Phoenix, David Hobel and Jeanne Trachta of Santa Fe, NM; six grandchildren Kathi Lee, Kris Jenkins, Karlie Talenti, Bobby Jenkins, all of Phoenix, Jeff Miller of Indianapolis, IN and Gabe Parmer of Boston, MA; and four great grandchildren Brandi Henderson, Desiree Staddick, Hannah and Abbi Dustin, all of Phoenix and Loosey, her faithful canine companion of six years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be sent to Hospice of the Valley or a charity of choice. A memorial is planned for October 16, 2004 from 12:00 to 5:00 pm at her residence. Scottsdale - Edwin A. Hochstrasser, Jr., 55, of 8346 E. Granada, a telephone technician for Mountain Bell for 30 years, died Feb. 3, 1982, at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital. Mr. Hochstrasser was born in Taylorsville, KY, and came to Arizona 33 years ago. He served in the Navy during World War II and in the Marines during the Korean conflict. HODGSON, Herbert E.
Herbert E. Hodgson, 68, Arizona mining engineer and resident of the state for 48 years, died January 8, 1960, in his home at 346 E. Verde Lane. Mr. Hodgson, a native of Michigan, came to Arizona in 1912, graduating from the University of Arizona as a mining engineer shortly afterward. He lived in BIsbee and Morenci before coming to Phoenix in 1924. Here, he operated the Copper State Broom Factory before the second world war. During the war, he was personnel manager for ALCOA in Phoenix. Later, he joined the firm of Swett and Crawford Insurance Agency as a safety engineer. Surviving are his wife, Martha; a son, Herbert, Jr., Hermosa Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Sally Kelly, Phoenix; four grandchildren; and two brothers, Walter, North Hollywood, and Marshall, Lancaster, Calif. Private services were in the Whitney and Murphy Funeral Home Cahpel. Burial in Greenwood Memorial Park. The Arizona Republic Jan. 9, 1960.

HOFFMAN, George and Hortense
Williams - George E. Carter, 46, his wife, Elizabeth Ann Carter, 45, her parents, George Hoffman, 70, his wife, Hortense Hoffman, 68, were killed Friday, June 21, 1974, in an airplane crash in Denver as they flew to Boulder, Colorado, for a wedding. Mr. Hoffman, of Kingman, was a retired maintenance man. He had attended Emporia, Kansas, State Teachers College. His wife, Hortense, was employed as a clerk. Survivors of Mr. and Mrs. Hoffman include sons, James, John, Michael and Charles; a daughter, Mrs. Larissa Baxter, and 19 grandchildren. Walker's Funeral Home. HOFFMAN, George Peters
George Peters Hoffman, 96, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1982. He moved to Phoenix in 1959 from Florida. He practiced law in St. Petersburg, Florida, and served one term as superintendent of public schools in Piniellas County, Florida. He also served as head of the department of business administration at Florida Southern College in Lakeland. He was a member of the Hohokam Senior Citizen Group. HOFFMAN, Marion
Marion Hoffman, On Wednesday, September 8, 2004, we will be celebrating the life of Marion Hoffman, who passed away peacefully on September 1, 2004. Born June 19, 1923, in Detroit, Michigan to David and Margaret Lindsay. Marion graduated from Arizona State University with high honors with a Masters Degree in Education and dedicated her life to children's literacy. Her passions in life were her devotion to Jesus Christ and her love of music and family. She was a devout member of American Lutheran Church. She was an inspiration to all and through her 45 year love affair with Barbershop she touched thousands with the joy of music. Surviving are her two sisters, Audrey Lane and husband Bob, Mary Waddell and husband Ed, her only daughter Roberta Campbell and husband Mike, grandson Randy Stewart and wife Bobbi and their two sons Brandon and Connor, and granddaughter Jennifer Therrien and her husband Shane. The memorial services will be held at 10:30am, Wednesday, September 8, at American Ev. Lutheran Church with everend Pastor Wilfong officiating. Family visitation begins at 9:00am and public visitation at 9:30am before service. A committal service will be held at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery at 1:30pm immediately following the memorial. Robert John Hofmann took his final journey on September 3rd, 2004 with his loving wife and family at his side. Bob was born in Springfield, MN on April 26, 1946. He is survived by his wife Bonnie (Sunny); children Paul, Jewel, John and Kennedy (Jean); Grandchildren, Matthew, Vanessa, Amanda, C. HOGAN, John Michael
John Michael Hogan, born on June 4, 1926 in Limerick, Ireland "passed on to that dear land across the Irish Sea" on Saturday, September 11, 2004. He his survived by his loving wife, Mary Christina Murphy Hogan of over 50 years and his son, Michael, who held him as his best friend. He will be thought of in many prayers by his fellow musicians in Arizona and his co-workers at Transworld Airlines where he worked for almost 30 years. He was a one time Arizona State Champion Senior Fiddle Winner, he loved to sing and tell a good Irish story to any and all. Lee Holt, 76, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 1974, of a heart attack in his home, 4819 W. Flower. He began his newspaper career with The Arizona Republic as a carrier boy in 1911 and was pressroom foreman from 1943 to 1958. He became a journeyman pressman in 1915 and was honored at retirement ceremonies in 1966 after 40 years and 10 months with Phoenix Newspapers, Inc. HOLTRY, Allison Lynn
Allison Lynn Holtry passed into eternal life on November 7, 2005. Ally was born on October 14, 1971 in Munich, Germany to Preston W. and Judith L. Holtry. Growing up as an Army Brat, Ally lived in England, Kansas, and Northern Virginia prior to moving with her parents to Sierra Vista, AZ in 1985. She graduated from Buena High in 1989 and later from Cochise Community College in 1993. In 1997 she earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication degree from Arizona State University. During the course of her college years Ally worked in various retail positions in Sierra Vista, Tucson, and Phoenix; culminating in a managerial position with Neiman Marcus in 2002. She held that position until she became a pharmaceutical representative with Eli Lilly in Las Vegas, NV in 2003. In 2004 Ally returned to the Scottsdale/Phoenix area where she continued to work for Eli Lilly. Ally was a skier, enjoyed working out, and loved all animals, particularly dogs. An avid equestrian, she was devoted to her Arabian, Ray-Ray. Beloved by all who knew her, she had a wide circle of friends in each place she lived who were enriched by her generosity, her unpretentious nature, her effervescence, and perhaps most of all her bubbly, infectious laugh. This was especially true when it came to her brother's two-year-old twins, who knew her has "Auntie Ally," a name she cherished. Allison is survived by her mother and father, Judith and Preston Holtry, of Tucson; brother Lee Holtry and his wife Kelly of Scottsdale; niece and nephew Kate and Preston Holtry; and relatives in Kansas, Virginia, Ohio, and elsewhere too numerous to name. There will be a Celebration of Allison's life at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd., Scottsdale on Wednesday, November 16 at 1:00 pm. All who loved Ally are welcome to attend. Interment will be in Colony, Kansas at a future date. Our beloved mother passed away peacefully on September 6, 2004. She was born on July 28, 1928 in Perry, IA to Joseph and Louise Wiedman and raised in Clinton, IA. Joanne was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Andrew. Joanne loved word games, easily finishing the New York Times crossword daily. She also enjoyed and was an excellent Bridge player. She had spent many hours throughout the years proudly supporting her sons and their various athletic activities. Joanne loved all manner of sports, always following her favorite teams on TV. She also shared her great passion of reading with her daughter. Joanne loved and made many friends working 15 years at the gift shop in the Scottsdale Embassy Suites. Joanne is survived by her sons, Steve and his wife Colleen of Scottsdale, AZ, Randy and his wife Lisa of Olympia, WA; her daughter, Nancy of Tampa, FL and her four grandsons. Globe - William S. Howe, 96, a longtime Phoenix farmer, died Nov. 16, 1982. He was born in White Plaine, Missouri, and have lived in Globe for ten years. Richard William Howell, 61, a controller clerk for the Salt River Power District died Sunday, April 30, 1967, in Good Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Howell, 1708 E. Montebello, was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 266. Born in Reedsville, Pennsylvania, he moved to Phoenix in 1944. Services in A.L.Moore & Sons Mortuary. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ellen Howell; two sons, Richard, Jr., and Martin L., all of Phoenix; his mother, Mrs. Mary E.
