Angeline M. Gobel, 69, of Phoenix, a clothing stocker, died Feb. 4, 1994. She was born in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, and was Navy veteran. 12 Nov 1905 - 11 Oct 1980 Sun City - Anna M. Gocal, 74, who was a cashier for high schools in Illinois before coming here in 1978 from Calumet City, Ill., died Oct. 11, 1980, in her home. She was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliaries, St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church and Polish American Democratic Club. Survived by husband, Mike; children, Dorothy Angell, Carl Coffelt, Clarence, Robert, William, Raymond; two brothers, Joseph and Louis Anjdraka of Illinois; two sisters, Velma Kostke of CA and Betty Bider of IL; 16 grandchildren. Scottsdale -- Lawrence A. Goche, 41, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1976, in his home, 7332 E. Taylor. Warren Gochenour, 84, of Peoria, died Jan. 29, 1994. He was born in Glendive, Montana, and was a retired president of a toy company and a former investment banker. Glendale - Services were in Arkansas for Eve Godbehere, 87, a 35-year resident of Arizona who died Nov. 14, 1982, at Phoenix Baptist Hospital. Mrs. Godbehere, a bookkeeper, was born in Moberly, Missouri. Survivors include her son, Garry; a daughter, Jenaie Hogg; a sister, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. GODDIN, Pearl
Pearl Goddin was born in WV in 1913 and lived most of her life there. She taught school for 30+ years, then worked as a social worker for several more years before retiring. After her husband, Alton, passed away in 1991 she spent winters with her daughter and son-in-law in Scottsdale until moving to the valley in 1999 to live with them permanently. She is survived by her daughter, Jean, her son, Clifford, and her son-in-law, Mike. She loved people, reading and traveling. Arrangements by Messinger Mortuary. GOLDEN, Francis M.
Superior - Funeral services for Francis M. Golden, 59, will be conducted today by the Miami Elks Lodge in the Smith Funeral Home. Mr. Golden died yesterday in Magma Hospital here. Born in Sedan, Kansas, he had lived in the state 35 years. For the past 31 years he had lived at Herron's Ranch, 5 miles west of Superior. He had been a partner of the late James Herron, Jr., in mining and other interests. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Golden, Sedan; and two sisters, Mrs. Lola Stephens, Sedan; and Mrs. Blanche Snell, Independence, Kansas. Burial will be in Sedan. Raymond J. Goldstein, age 88, passed away September 13, 2004. He was born in Pittsburgh, and has been a resident of the Valley for the past 50 years. Ray was a retired real estate broker, 50-year member of Temple Beth Israel, a veteran of WWII, serving with the U. S. Army, and a devoted family man who will be missed by all. Rosary was in the Whitney and Murphy Chapel for Audon Gonzales, 89, who died Jan. 5, 1960, in his home, 703 E. Moreland. Riquiem high mass was in St. Mary's Church. Burial in St. Francis Cemetery. A native of New Mexico, Mr. Gonzales spent all of his life in New Mexico and Arizona. At one time he was deputy sheriff in Socorro County, N.M. He was a cattleman and earlier had been a freighter. He came to Phoenix six months ago. Marcos Cantu Gonzales, went to be with our Lord Jesus on Sept. 26, 2004. Marcos of Phoenix, AZ, was born in Rock Springs, TX to Sara Cantu & Luis Gonzales on Sept. 30, 1923. He came to AZ in the early 40's. He served in the Navy as a Gunner Mate & Drill Instructor in the South Pacific, & is an honored WWII Veteran. He married the love of his life, Oralia Gonzales on Sept. 8, 1946. He was a member of the Laborer's Union, Local 383. He worked at Superlite Block for 30 years & retired from the Palo Verde Nuclear plant as General Foreman. He lived & worked hard for his family & enjoyed many trips to White River, old campsite in AZ. Marcos & Oralia were famous for dancing the Jitterbug at family events. He will be missed by all who knew & loved him. Reverend F. Paul Goodland, 74, died on September 7, 2004. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, March 19, 1930, Paul graduated from the University of Colorado and studied Law at the University of Iowa, before graduating from the Berkeley Divinity School at Yale in 1956. He was ordained an Episcopal Priest in 1956 and began his ministry in Esterville, Iowa. He moved to Ames, Iowa in 1960 where he served as Rector of St. John's by the Campus for thirty-one years. Paul also served as Mayor of Ames from 1980-1990. Fr. Paul moved to the Phoenix area in 1991, working for Superior Court Judge John Foreman prior to serving as interim Rector of St. Anthony on the Desert. He joined the Diocese of Southwestern States, Anglican Province of Christ the King, serving as Vicar for the Anglican Episcopal Church of the Atonement. He is survived by his wife Sally, his daughters, Julie and Katie, and his granddaughter Andrea. The Memorial service will be held at the Church of the Atonement, 11002 N. Harriett T. Goodwin, 99, of 1920 W. Flower, who taught at Arizona State University when it was called Tempe Normal School, died March 11, 1980, in Beatitudes Care Center. John Davidson Gordon Jr., LTC, USAR (Ret.) formerly of Carlsbad, New Mexico died September 3rd, 2004 at home with his daughter Betty Jo and husband Bill Prowell in Mesa, Arizona at the age of 90. John was born in Watertown, Massachusetts May 27th, 1914 to John Davidson Gordon Sr. and Lucy Emily Campbell. John worked at IMCC from 1945 till 1969, where he was a geologist, supervisor and Chief Mining Engineer. After retiring from IMCC, he moved to Prescott, Az. and taught in Humboldt School District and at Yavapai College. John served 26 years in the United States Army Intelligence Corp retiring as Lieutenant Colonel. John is preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Betty Lea and siblings. He is survived by son Richard of Phoenix, Az, daughter Betty Jo and husband Bill Prowell, Mesa, Az, John and Gina Prowell, Raytown, Mo; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Kori and Chase, Suzanne Prowell and great-granddaughter Emilea of Mesa, Az. GORDON, Rena Joyce
Rena Joyce Gordon, passed away on November 24, 2005. Rena Joyce Gordon, 69, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away on November 24, 2005 after an eleven-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Rena loved and was loved by Len, her husband of 49 years, and by her daughters Melinda Sue and Melissa, her son Matt, grandchildren Jake, Hal, and Lily and many family, friends, and university students and colleagues. Rena was an alumnus of the University of Michigan, Wayne State University, and Arizona State University, where she earned her Ph.D. in Geography. In 2002 Rena retired from ASU East where she helped develop a new health and wellness baccalaureate degree. In the 1980s and early 1990s Rena was on the faculty of the University of Arizona's Department of Family and Community Medicine and directed the U of A Medical School's Rural Health Office. She was the founding editor of the research journal Complementary Health Practice Review. Most importantly for those who knew her was her vivacious spirit and kindness. She had been using her academic writing skills to write a family history on her and her husband Len's Russian Jewish immigrant Gordon and Feigelman family journey to America. Rena encouraged Len to take an ASU Writing Workshop course this Fall semester. As part of that workshop Len described his first awareness of Rena: "In 1951 I first became aware of Rena Feigelman at school and of Elizabeth Taylor in the movies. I thought that Elizabeth Taylor was almost as attractive, bright, and appealing as Rena Feigelman." Rena's joyful qualities are permanent. Robert E. Gordon 79, of Chino Valley, AZ. born in Iowa, entered into rest on Sept. 8, 2004. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 32 years, Margaret F. Gordon and his step-son Kevin M. Williams. Robert was a loving step-father and grandfather to his step-children, he taught them a lot about gardening, fixing cars, building construction among many other talents he had. A man of such intelligence lived a full filled life, always working on home projects and cooking. We will greatly miss him for his unselfish giving to all our lives. Virginia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Prudy and Don Stump of San Antonio, TX; her stepson and daughter-in-law, Gary and Verlena Pratt of Lewistown, IL; stepdaughter, Deborah Weech of Box Elder, MT; and her son-in-law, Fred Collins of San Diego, CA; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Virginia was co-owner of Mine Equipment Manufacturing Company in Mt. Vernon, IL. She retired in 1985. A loving wife to her husband Sigmund for 48 years, until he passed away in April 2000; a great mother to two sons, Joseph of Wichita Falls, TX, and John of Clovis, NM; and a grandmother of four: Kendra Lee and Jonathan Gorleski, both residing in Goodyear, AZ, and Melanie and Laura Gorleski of Wichita Falls TX. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Peggy was also Sigmund's business partner. Sigmund was a baker by trade. Together, they owned and operated four full-scale bakeries, two small nightclubs, and a small motel-restaurant business.
