Myrl John Fraizer, 85, 2015 E. Belleview, died Nov. 2, 1979, in Pahrump, NV,
where he was visiting. He came to Arizona in 1918 from his native Oklahoma. He
had been a mechanic for Consolidated Motor in Phoenix until he retired in 1959.
Surviving are his children, Lucelle Butler, Beulah Hess, of Phoenix., Jean
Bixley, Las Vegas, NV, and John, of Phoenix; two sisters; a brother; nine
grandchildren and 19 gr-grandchildren. Cryptside services were at Greenwood

Sun City -- James Starr Francis, Sr., 75, an Arizona agriculturist, died
Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1976, at the Sun Valley Lodge, 12415 N. 103rd Ave. He came
to Arizona in 1922 to help build a cotton gin in Peoria which began operating
the following year as the Valley Gin Co. His interests included cattle feeding,
investments and land development. He helped develop many agricultural tracts
around the valley. He was a founder of the National Cotton Council in 1937 and
the first Arizonan to be elected to its board of directors, serving from 1948 to
1966. He was past president of the Glendale Rotary Club, the Arizona Cotton
Growers Association and the first president of the Arizona Cotton Ginners
Association. He served on the board of the National Ginners Association, the
Phoenix Federal Land Bank Assn., Spur Feeding Co., John C. Lincoln Hospital, and
E. S. Erwin and Associates, Inc. He was a member of the Arizona Club, the
Paradise Valley Country Club and a senior warden of the All Saints Episcopal
Church in Phoenix. Survivors include his wife, Margaret F.; sons, J. S., Jr. and
G. H.; four sisters; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services were
held at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 103rd Ave. and Peoria.

Monday in a hospital while vacationing in Alamosa, Colorado, will be recited at

9 a.m. tomorrow in Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 8620 N. Seventh St. Mr.
Francis, 16806 N. 44th St., was a retired rancher. Born in Custer County,
Oklahoma, he moved to the west Phoenix area 55 years ago. He owned a ranch at
Grand Canyon 15 year before retiring in 1957 and moving to Phoenix. He was a
member of the Loyal Order of Moose and a Masonic lodge here. Survivors include
his wife, Marian; five sons, Oscar of Yuma, Don of Phoenix, Gene of Buckeye and
Ray and Roy, both of Paradise Valley; two daughters, Ruthie and Cathy, both of
Paradise Valley; two brothers, Lee of Kingman and Henry of Project City,
California; a sister, Joe O'Connell of Phoenix; 11 grandchildren and one
great-grandchild. Friends may call at the mortuary after 10 a.m. today.

was born in Des Moines and moved to Phoenix in 1931 from San Francisco. She had
resided the past six years in Sun City. Her husband died in December 1965.

Jean Phyllis (Long) Franks, age 73, of Sun City, Arizona and a former
Sturgis, Michigan resident, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 26,
2004 at the Boswell Memorial Hospital in Sun City, Arizona, following a short
illness. She was born October 11, 1930, in Sturgis, Michigan, a daughter to
Edward and Edna (Crain) Long. Jean had resided most of her life in Sturgis and
was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1948. On July 9, 1949,
she married Richard Franks in Sturgis. In 1987 she and her husband decided to
retire to Sun City, Arizona. Jean loved serving her Lord. When she lived in
Sturgis she was a very active member of the Fish Lake Bible Church, Christian
Women's Club and the Gideon's International. After moving to Sun City, she
became a member of the Palmcroft Baptist Church and was very active with her
Sunday School class. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Richard;
three daughters: Deborah Sulcs and Linda Franks, both of Peoria, Arizona; Janet
Franks of Bellingham, Washington; one son and his wife Michael and Rita Franks
of Kalamazoo, Michigan; her grandchildren: Athena and Randy Lafferty of Cedar
Springs, Michigan; Diedra and Nic Fox of Freeport, Michigan; Matthew and Amber
Sulcs of Nashville, Michigan and Lucas and Vincent Franks of Kalamazoo,
Michigan; her great grandchildren: Autumn and Zachary Lafferty of Cedar Springs,
Michigan and Alex and Brooke Fox of Freeport, Michigan; one sister: Susanna and
Woodrow Jent of Howe, Indiana; two brothers: Wayne Long of Dallas, Texas and
Terry and Patti Long of Winter Haven, Florida and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, one son, Richard "Ric" Franks, and two brothers: Jack Long and
Benny Long, preceded her in death. Funeral service celebrating the life of Jean
Franks was held at the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis, Michigan. Mr.
Larry Wallman and the Rev. Keith Treman officiated. Burial followed the service
at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. A memorial service celebrating the life of Jean
Franks will be held at 10:00 A. M. Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at the

Frazier, MD, 76, of Mesa, died on August 24, 2004. He was a loving and devoted
husband, a terrific father, and a beloved grandfather. He was preceded in death
by Margery Ann McHenry Frazier, who passed away in 1987 after 35 years of
marriage. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Paloni Frazier; his five
children, Mark Frazier, of Newport Beach, CA; Dean Frazier, of San Jose, CA;
Grant Frazier, of San Diego, CA; Bryan Frazier, of Newport Beach, CA; and Holly
Miller, of Gilbert, AZ; and his two stepchildren, Angella Paloni, of Scottsdale,
AZ; and Sheila Paloni, of New York, NY. He was also a proud "Papa" to his 16
grandchildren. He was born on December 2, 1927 in Natick, Massachusetts, and
spent his youth there. After serving a tour in the U. S. Navy, Don studied
business administration at the University of Cincinnati, where he was a member
of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He followed up his BA degree with a Doctor of
Medicine degree, specializing in Urologic Surgery. He moved his family to
Arizona in 1961 to establish a private medical practice. He practiced in Mesa
from 1961 through his retirement in 1996. Among the highlights of his career was
being appointed Chief of Staff at Mesa Lutheran Hospital. He was as a long-time
and active member of the Mesa HoHoKams, and was also a member of Rotary Club. He
was an avid golfer and fisherman, and loved gardening. He also loved the beach,
and would take his family to Mission Beach in San Diego every summer to escape
the Arizona heat. Quiet yet personable, responsible yet fun-loving, caring and
compassionate yet very strong Ð he will be missed tremendously by his family and
friends. Services to be held at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park in Mesa, AZ on
Saturday, August 28th at 5:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made in his

who worked for Phoenix, died Dec. 20, 1982. Mrs. Grederick was born in Port

Martin J. Frederick, 59, died Jan. 29, 1980. He
was a heavy equipment operator with AZ Public Service Co. 20 years after moving
here in 1956 from St. Louis, MO. Mr. Frederick was awarded the Purple Heart
during World War II action in the Southwest Pacific. He was a past commander of
Veterans of Foreign Wars District 4 and VFW Post 9400 and a member of Trinity

First United Methodist Church and had been an assistant professor of education

from Southwestern State College and Geneva College and did graduate work at the

Fricke, Sr., 68, a chiropractor who had a 41-year practice in Phoenix, were

American Chiropractic Association and had been active in the state association.

Edward
David Edward Friestad, 61, died August 28, 2004 in Scottsdale, AZ. He was
born July 10, 1943 in Minneapolis, MN to Leonard and Geraldine Friestad. He
spent the majority of his life in the service of our country. David was a highly
decorated United States Air Force "Fighter" Pilot who served two tours in Viet
Nam. While in Viet Nam on his first tour he flew F-4's with the Triple Nickle
Fighter Squadron. On his second tour he flew the A1 Sky Raider with the Sandy's.
David was awarded the Silver Star, Four Distinguished Flying Crosses, two Purple
Hearts and 38 other air medals. David also held a PhD in Criminology and was a
tenured professor at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN. He is survived
by his wife, Carla, daughter, Brandy Sunshine of Tempe, AZ, sons; David and
Jerry Friestad of Scottsdale, AZ, sister, Marion Friestad of Eugene, Oregon and
brother, Roland Friestad of Galesburg, Illinois. Funeral services and burial
will be held on Friday, November 5, 2004, 3:00PM at Arlington National Cemetery

Phoenix, Arizona and retired in 1984. John was a member of the Arizona Center
For The Blind. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lee, and daughter, Judy. He

Fairris of Strong, Arkansas; Charlotte Meyers of Modesto, California;
stepdaughter Tanya Gould of North Andover, Massachusetts; sons: Gary Frisby of

announced for Thomas H. FRY, 66, son of the founder of the town of Fry, who died
of a heart attack Thursday night. A native of Centerville, Iowa, he came to
Arizona in 1912 and settled with his father, Oliver, at what later became the
town of Fry, now Sierra Vista, which surrounds their original homestead. Thomas
FRY drove the high school bus between Fort Huachuca and Tombstone for 16 years
until ill health forced his retirement in 1958. He then moved to Tucson. He is
survived by his wife, Lema; three sisters, Mrs. June Clark, San Francisco; Mrs.
Alice Rogers, El Paso; and Mrs. Edna Smith, Bisbee; two brothers, Cecil,

beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away
peacefully the morning of his 96th birthday, September 7, 2004. Born in
Wakayama, Japan, he arrived in San Francisco at the age of 14. He married Masa
Matsutani in 1938 and the family was interned at Gila River, AZ in 1942. M and
Masa decided to raise the family in the Valley of the Sun where he was a
landscape gardener for many years. His wife, Masa, 4 children, daughter Rae
Whitehouse (Jack) sons Richard (Kety), Ronald (Bernie), and Robert (Kathy), 7
grandchildren, Steven (Laura), Kim Whitehouse, Peggi Fischer (Steve), Ron Jr.,

Catherine Elizabeth Furry, 64, Sun City, AZ passed away Sept. 9, 2004.
A memorial mass will be held 10 AM on Friday, September 17, 2004 at St. Clement
of Rome Catholic Church, 15800 N. Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ. In lieu of
flowers, donations are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, 9720 W. Peoria Ave.,

FURRY, Catherine Elizabeth
Catherine Elizabeth (Carroll) Furry, of
Sun City, Arizona, passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2004. Catherine was
born in Reno, Nevada in 1940 and grew up in San Francisco, California, after the
family moved there in 1941. Her career as a Registered Nurse touched the hearts
of many individuals in San Francisco and at the University of New Mexico,
Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her parents Noel and Lorraine Carroll.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Dolores and Gary Balding of
Sun City, Arizona; cousins Sister Joan O'Dwyer of Inglewood, California and
Michael O'Dwyer and wife Connie, of Millbrae, California; and her many friends
and care-givers at Brighton Gardens in Sun City, Arizona and Hospice of the
Valley in Peoria, Arizona. There will be a Memorial Mass Friday, September 17,
2004 at 10:00 A. M. at St. Clement of Rome Church, 15800 Del Webb Boulevard in
Sun City, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the
Valley, 9720 W. Peoria Avenue, Suite 128, Peoria, Arizona, 85345-6133.
