Ina Drake, 93, of Mesa, died Oct. 29, 1994. She was born in Altus, Oklahoma, and was a preschool/nursery owner. She was a member of the Phoenix Woman's Club. Mesa -- Retta Dales Drake, 82, a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, died Aug. 31, 1967, in Golden Mesa Nursing Home. She moved here 15 years ago from Detroit. She was born in New Market, Ontario, and was a member of Eastern Star in Detroit. Survivors include two sons, Francis of Oak Park, MI, and Paul of Royal Oak, MI; two daughters, Mrs. Jean SPRINGALL of Mesa and Mrs. Christine BERMAN of Detroit; and 11 grandchildren. Cave Creek - Robert T. Drake, 66, of 3704 E. Kohuana Place, died Dec. 17, 1982, at his residence. Mr. Drake was born in New Jersey and moved to Phoenix from Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1974. He was a World War II veteran. He is survived by his wife, Jean; daughter, Joann Cardwell; sons, Robert and James; stepdaughter, Marjorir Trepte; and two brothers. DRAKE, Robert D.
Robert D. Drake, 19, the drum major with the Glendale Community College Band, was killed Friday, Feb. 27, 1970, in a two-car crash near 59th Ave and Thunderbird. He was born in Phoenix and had been the drum major for the Moon Valley High School for three years. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. DRATWINSKY, Walter
Walter Harry Dratwinsky, 75, who worked for A-1 Brewing Co. before retiring in 1969, died Dec. 22, 1982, at Good Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Dratwinsky, was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and moved to Phoenix while serving in the Army after being discharged. He was a member of the American Legion and a former member of the Teamsters Union. He is survived by his wife, Anna, and a sister. Services were at the First Presbyterian Church, 402 W. Monroe. DRAYSON, Edgar T.
Tempe -- Edgar T. Drayson, 64, died Friday, May 5, 1967, in a Tempe hospital. He was the retired sheriff of Warren County, Illinois. Earlier he served 27 years in the National Guard and was in the Army from 1941 to 1946. He retired with the rank of major. He was a native of Monmouth, IL, and a Valley resident for the past nine years. He belonged to Christ Chapel Methodist Church, Tempe, and also was active in the Masonic lodges and American Legion of Monmouth. Surviving are his wife, Ruby; a daughter, Mrs. James McCoy, Worthington, OH, and three grandsons. Burial at the Monmouth, IL, cemetery. 5/7/1967.

DRESCHER, Clarence W.
Clarence W. "Bud" Drescher, 64, of Phoenix, a retired Army captain, died Feb. 5, 1982, in St. Joseph's Hospital. Mr. Drescher was born in Palmyra, Missouri, and came to Arizona 11 years ago. He served in the Army Corps of Engineers for 10 of his 30 years in the military. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; daughters, Theresa and Bonnie; two sisters, Martha Drebert of Covina, CA, and Alice Venables, Ajo, AZ; and a brother, Pat Drescher of Sparks, NV. DRESSKELL, Miles A.
Tempe - Miles A. Dreskell, 74, professor emeritus of music at Arizona State University and composer of the music for the ASU Alma Mater, died Mar. 5, 1970, in a Phoenix hospital. Mr. Dresskell joined the ASU faculty in 1945 and retired in June 1964. Before joing ASU, he was on the faculty at Columbia University for 17 years, was music department director at San Jose, CA, and taught at the College of the Pacific and the University of Nebraska. He was born in Brainerd, MN and held degrees from Northwestern University, San Jose State College and Columbia University. He was a veteran of World War I and was awarded the French Croix de Guerre. Wife, Nadine; son, William Miles DRESSKELL, III; a daughter, Mrs. Stanley YARNALL III of Phoenix. Services were in the First Methodist Church at University Dr. and Forest Ave. Burial in Green Acres Cemetery, Scottsdale. 3/6/1970.

DREW, Dan E.
Dan E. Drew, 77, Born Jan. 25, 1930 in Buckeye, AZ. Died March 12, 2007 in Vernon, AZ. Dan was born in Buckeye to area settlers Frank & Cora Mae (KELL) DREW. He attended schools here and had graduated from Phoenix Technical School in 1948. He joined his father in operating the Buckeye Sand & Gravel Co. [Plant Superintendent -- Buckeye, joined the Company in May, 1948. At that time he was with Buckeye Sand & Rock. This was sold to United Materials in 1961, which became part of United Metro in 1966. Dan was Plant Superintendent from 1966 until he retired in July, 1978. The Tanner Companies, 1923 - 1981 page 811.] He then managed that company until his retirement. Dan was a charter member of the Buckeye Elks Lodge and also a member of the Acacia Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his 3 sons John & Frank both of Buckeye, Don of Flagstaff. There are 10 grandchildren & 3 great grandchildren. Visitation was held at the Buckeye Funeral Home. Funeral Service at the Louis B. Hazelton Memorial Park, 23000 W. Broadway in Buckeye. Army Spec. 4 Jack L. Drye, Sr., 21, was killed in action in Vietnam on Feb. 17, 1970. He was born in Flagstaff and lived in Phoenix for 10 years before joing the Army in March 1968. A graduate of Moon Valley High School, he was a crew chief on a military transport and had served in Vietnam almost a year. Before joingin the service he had been employed by Bill Luke Chrysler, Jack Reed Chrysler and Layke, Inc. Survivors include his wife, Janet; son, Jack L., Jr.; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Loren E. Drye; one brother, Daniel; three sisters; Mrs. Margaret A. Martin and Stella and Robin Drye, all of Phoenix; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Drye, Sr., and Mrs. Stella Robertson, all of Flagstaff. 3 April 1900 - 3 March 1970. Sun City - Fernando M. Duato, 69, was killed Tuesday, March 3, 1970, in an auto accident at 103rd Ave. and Grand. He was born in Spain and came to America in 1919. He was a machinist 25 years for the Bridgeport Hardware Corp in Bridgeport, CT. He moved to Sun City in 1964. Wife, Maria; son, Max of Mexico City; a brother and sister in Spain. John B. Duffy Dies; ex-ASU Police Chief. John B. Duffy, 66, who was chief of the campus police at Arizona State University from 1963 to 1976, and before that was a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation since 1942, died Oct. 2, 1979, in Doctors Hospital. Mr. Duffy, 2439 N. 39th St., graduated from Drake University Law School and had lived in Arizona since 1930. He was born in Alvarado, Texas and was a veteran of World War I and a member of Holbrook Masonic Lodge No. 8 and the American Legion. Leone G. Dunn, June 1905 - September 2004. At age 8 she began to study violin in Idaho. She added voice and piano and moved to California to play in the orchestra for the booming silent film industry. She performed, wrote and taught music, and sang soprano in 32 amateur operas. She never drove, but was an avid walker. Although her mind remained clear, even after she became bedfast, some questioned her quality of life. However Leone added quality to the jives of those around her with her smile, keen wit, wisdom and stories. When she was 96 she invited Jesus into her heart. Now He has called her home. Virginia Cleo (Brandon) Durham, 83, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother passed away on September 10th, 2004 in Sun City, AZ. Virginia was born on July 6, 1921 in Miller Grove, Texas. She permanently relocated to Arizona in 1936 where she attended Phoenix Union High School. She married Jasper Charles Durham on January 5, 1939 and spent her days loving and supporting her family. Virginia retired from Motorola in 1983. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Desert Flowers Grandmothers, and Autumn Leaves Senior Citizen Clubs. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jasper C. Durham and son, Randall. She is survived by her sister Donna Rennels (Art) and 6 loving children, including 5 sons; Ron (Wanda), Robert (Annie), Roland (Becky), Royce (Gayle), Rick (Karen), and one daughter; Ruby (Larry). In addition, Virginia is survived by 36 grand-children and 38 great grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 17th from 6-8 pm at Chapel of the Chimes on 59th Avenue & Northern. Chapel services will be held on Friday, September 18th at 9 am. Alice Marian Dutton, In loving Memory of Alice. She was born Alice Marian French in Hebron, NH on August 9, 1930. She moved to Arizona in the late 1950's, working with TransAmerica Title Company until 1960. Then she moved with her dear husband Kenneth John Dutton to Tucson. After being widowed for several years, she moved to Rye, AZ in 1988 and spent the next 16 years with her loving companion Don Garvin. Alice passed away on September 25, 2004 in Mesa, AZ, and leaves behind Don Garvin; son Kenneth V. Dutton, his wife Anne, and their children John and Jessi; daughter Sherrian States, her husband George, and their children Brad and Kendra; sister Jean; brother-in-law Ray C. Dutton, his wife Shirley, and their sons Roger and Steve; several nieces and nephews. She also leaves the family of Don Garvin; his son Donny Garvin; daughter Danell Loy, her husband Wayne, and their children Keaton and Whitney; daughter Donna Cox, her husband Bob, and their son Michael. DWYER, John Leo
John Leo Dwyer, PhD, 36, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away at his home on January 5, 2007. A dedicated scholar, he devoted much of his life to learning and working to educate others in health care fields, with a focus in diabetes prevention and management. Having earned Masters Degrees in public health administration and management, and a PhD in naturopathy, John generously shared his time and knowledge in his roles as a pharmaceutical consultant and certified health education specialist. He was involved in several professional societies, but the one closest to his heart was the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, where he volunteered for 3 years (more than 1000 hours) hoping to find a cure for the disease that afflicted him since age 12. His vitality and passion for life will be truly missed by the many people and friends whose lives he touched. John is survived by his father, Gerald DWYER of Scottsdale and his siblings, Kathryn DWYER of New York City, Gerald DWYER, Jr., of Huntsville, Alabama, and Colleen DWYER of Henderson, Nevada.
