Leroy N., and Lawrence E., both of Walpole; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy McKenna,
Walpole, a brother and three sisters in the East; seven grandchildren and seven

Coolidge - Funeral services for Leonard Ray Cobb, 23,

Sharod Berkley Coffey, 59, who retired four years ago after 40 years
with Southern Pacific Co., died Sun., Mar. 1, 1970, in a Phoenix hospital. Mr.
Coffey was a former physician who graduated from Tulane University School of
Medicine, was awarded the Military Order of the Purple Heart while serving in
the Army during World War II. He retired as a major in 1948 with a medical
discharge. He came to Hotevilla on the Hopi Reservation in 1924 from El Capitan,
N.M. He was a former commander of the American Legion post and a member of the
Disabled American Veterans Chapter and a former member of the Moose lodge in
Yuma. He was born in New Castle, OK. Survivors include his wife, Jo; three sons,
Patrick, with the Army in Germany, Michael, with the Marines in South Vietnam,
and David of Phoenix; six daughters, Mrs. Brenda Sunders with the Navy at
Norfolk, VA, Mrs. Coleen Jo Talley and Margaret Tammara, Ruth Ann and Della Lynn

COHEN, Edgar P.
Edgar P. Cohen, 72, a retired printer who had worked for
the Berkowitz Press Co. in Elizabeth, N.J., for 25 years, died Sept. 29, 1982,
in a Valley hospital. He moved to Phoenix nine years ago from his native New
Jersey. He was a member of the Jewish Community Center. Survivors include his
wife, Sadie; two sons, David and Joel; a daughter, Rita; and five grandchildren.

COHEN, Herbert George
Herbert George Cohen, 65, died recently after a long
and difficult struggle with hydrocephalus. He was predeceased by his beloved
wife, Cecilia Collins Cohen, and is survived by his adoring children, Dorothy
and Emily Cohen. In addition to being a devoted husband and father, Herb was
above all a teacher. He served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ankara, Turkey, a
city he returned to twenty years later as a Fulbright Scholar. Herb earned a
Ph.D. at the University of Iowa. He enjoyed a twenty-five year career at Arizona
State University where his passion for teaching and education inspired countless
students, including his daughters, to become teachers. Though friends and family
deeply mourn his loss , all are comforted that Herb finally has rejoined the
wife and dogs he so greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that

here died August 30, 1967, in a Phoenix nursing home. Mr. Cohen, 460 W. Sunset
Circle, was born in Romania and came to Mesa in 1910 when he established the
finance company. He had been a member of Oriental Masonic Lodge here since 1920
and was a past master and treasurer emeritus of this lodge. He was a charter
member and treasurer emeritus of the Mesa Shrine Club, a charter member of the
Phoenix Consistory, member of El Zaribah Shrine in Phoenix and Order of Eastern
Star Chapter 16 of Mesa, life member of Williams AFB Geometric Club, past
treasurer of the Mesa Hiram Club and past president of B'nai B'rith. He also was
adopted into the Snake Clan of the Hopi Indian Tribe. Services were in Melcher

Robert Vincent Colantoni, of
Mesa, AZ passed away on September 1, 2004 at the age of 56. Robert, born on Sept
14, 1947 in Teaneck, NJ, had served his country in the US Army. He was a loving
father, son and friend. He enjoyed traveling to exotic locations, he also loved
cowboy shooting. Robert was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees. After a
lengthy battle with cancer, Robert is at peace. He is preceded in death by his

at the age of 56. Robert, born on Sept 19, 1947 in Teaneck, NJ, had served his

Ruth Cole, 70, were at the Brown-Page Chapel. Cremation in Phoenix. Mrs. Cole
died in Douglas Hospital, Saturday, Jan. 16, 1960. Born in Los Angeles, she came
to Douglas in 1912. She was the widow of Carl H. Cole, Sr., former
superintendent of the Copper Queen smelter, who died in 1944. Mrs. Cole was head
of the Red Cross in Douglas during World War II and had been active in the
Little Theater here. She was also a playwright and author of many poems. She had
recently returned from a visit to a daughter in Athens, Greece. She is survived
by two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Musser, Athens, Greece, and Mrs. Elizabeth Sloan,

Mr. Colgan, 3211 W. Van Buren, died Friday, Feb. 8, 1974, in Phoenix General
Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Colgan was a native of Bridgeport,
Connecticut, and came to Phoenix in 1963 from Auburn, N.Y. He joined the
Merchant Marine at an early age and was graduated from the U. S. Merchant Marine
Academy. He helped deliver supplies to the Navy during both world wars and the
Korean conflict. One of the ships on which he served was torpedoed. Survivors
include his wife, Harriette; a daughter, Irene D. Colgan of Phoenix; a sister
out of state, and three grandchildren. Mass in St. Matthew's Catholic Church,

years old passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 15th, after a long term
bout of lung and digestive complications. Imogene is survived by her best friend
and husband of almost 57 years, Clifford F. Collup. She was born August 26, 1925
in Grand Island, Nebraska to the late Edgar and Olive Hart. She was preceded in
death by her brothers, Bill, Roger, and Edgar Hart and her grandson, Craig
Collup. Surviving are her dearly loved sons: Douglas of Phoenix, C. Chuck
(Gretchen) of Greer, and William (Vicki) of NV. She was also the doting
grandmother of: Brian of Flagstaff and Bonnie of Tempe, Tamara Collup Scheinman
of GA and Bethany of FL, Justin of DE and Seth of NV. She became a great
grandmother in the last year to: Preston of Flagstaff and Carson of DE. Her dear
sisters-in-law survive her: Betty Mae Hart, Barbara Hart, Darlene Hart (all of
AZ), and Donna Collup (ID). Imogene graduated Valedictorian from Phoenix Union
High School and as such, was a member of the National Honor Society all four
years. As a teenager during wartimes, she helped rebuild General Patton's
armored vehicles (half- tracks). She was 15 years old when she met and invited
Cliff to a Rainbow Dance. They wrote to each other while he was in the Marines
and she was a court reporter. She married Clifford on December 20, 1946 and then
became a proud wife of a locomotive engineer for Southern Pacific Railroad for
over 35 years. She was a house wife mainly raising their three sons, a Scout
leader, cheered her sons on, in their respective sports at Camelback High
School, and still managed to be a well loved lady and friend to all. She loved
her Eastern Star meetings and activities and attending the Shrine events with
Clifford until she became too ill to attend. She valued the special friendship
of her neighbors and dear friends: Dick, Terry, and Kris Macy, Kathy Hill, and
Sylvia Wahl, to whom her family owes an extra debt of gratitude for their
continued concern during this time. She also enjoyed her Crown King years of
potlucks, card games, and shooting contests with Ed and Ann Fatout, Leo and
Hannah Doerenbecher, and Ed and "Gabe" Voss. We thank everyone for helping make
each day so happy and special for this very dear lady. A memorial services will
be held Saturday at 3:00pm, September 18th at Shadow Mountain Mortuary 2350 East

99th Ave. & Glendale Ave. for 30 years. Upon retirement in 1985, he moved to
Black Canyon City where he was active in many community activities including
serving as President of the Black Canyon City Community Association for several
years. He dearly loved Black Canyon City and the surrounding countryside.
Memorial services will he held on October 5, 2004 at 2:00 PM at the Black Canyon
City Community Church in Black Canyon City. The family requests contributions in

P. Conrad, 77, died Dec. 5, 1982, in Medford, Oregon, while visiting his son. He
was born in Flanagan, IL, and graduated from Bluffton College in Ohio. He was
part oenr of Corn Belt Hatcheries until 1952 when he moved to Phoenix and worked
for Scott Corporation. He was inducted into the BLuffont College Hall of Fame in
1978 because of his football and track record at the school and was a member of
the Scottsdale Kiwanis Club. Survivors include his wife, Anita; children,

Victor (Vic) Conti of Phoenix, AZ went to be with our Lord on September
8, 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 72. His loving
family was at his bedside. He was a loving husband and caring father, devoted to
his family. He was born in Niagara Falls, New York and came to Phoenix in 1978.
He served in the Army during the Korean War. After retiring from his profession
of diesel mechanic he joined his son, Paul, in the family restaurant business.
After retiring from the restaurant, he found happiness as a Silver Bullet
employee for Wells Fargo Bank. His passions in life were family, cooking and
woodworking. Vic is survived by his wife, Phyllis of 50 years, his six children
Carla Williams (Donald) of Phoenix, Paul (Sharon) of Naples, FL, Rick of
Raleigh, NC, Phyllis Shinkel (David) of Tucson, AZ, Joseph (Linda) of Fullerton,
CA and Vicki Pringle (Wesley) of Canton, MI, 12 grandchildren and 6
great-grandchildren. Also survived by his three brothers, Vincent and Umberto of
Niagara Falls, NY, Anthony of Bayside, NY, several brother in laws, sister in
laws, nieces and nephews. Vic was the center of his family and he will be

James Alton Cook - husband,
father, son, brother, and gramps - died at age 61 of a sudden illness the
morning of September 13, 2004 at Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City, CA. Jim
was born in Great Falls, Montana on February 23, 1943 to Alton J. and Arlene K.
Cook. Jim attended Billings Senior High School and served two years in the U. S.
Navy. In 1965, Jim joined the Great Falls Police department where he was
promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. Jim earned an Associate Degree in
Criminology from the College of Great Falls in 1974. In 1978, Jim left the Great
Falls Police department and joined the Maricopa County Attorney's office in
Phoenix, AZ as a detective and special investigator. While with the County
Attorney's office, Jim led the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Task Force and
was named investigator of the year. On August 24, 1980, Jim married Carol
Dangers. After retiring in 2004, Jim and Carol fulfilled their dream of moving
to Brookings, OR where they enjoyed the peaceful ocean setting. Jim was preceded
in death by his father, Alton J. Cook. He is survived by his wife, Carol, of
Brookings, Oregon, his daughters: Deb Cook-Ozga (John) of Hawthorn Woods,
Illinois; Kim Cullens (Spike) of Sunset, Utah; LaRae Dilley (Kevin) of
Riverdale, Utah; Tanya Fiske (Dave) of Helena, Montana; his sons Kevin Dangers
(Michelle) of Danville, CA; Brian Dangers (Nancy) of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; 16
grandchildren and 10 nieces and nephews. Jim is also survived by his mother,
Arlene K. Cook of Billings, Montana, and three brothers: Ralph K. Cook

died December 31, 1981, in his home, 62 W. Culver. Mr. Cook joined the faculty
of Washington High School in 1955, where he taught speech, drama and English
until the time of his death. The past 18 years he also taught in the Phoenix
College evening division. He graduated from Phoenix Union High School and
received the Rosenzweig Award as the outstanding male student when he graduated
from Phoenix College in 1947. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees
from the University of Arizona and served with the Army Air Force in World War
II as a meterologist. He was born in Murfreesboro, Arkansas, and came to Phoenix

Ann Heffley. 10/1/1982. Memorial service was held today for John M. Cooper, 82,
a graduate from the University of California at Berkeley who was born in Canyon,
Texas, and came to Arizona in 1956 from Montana. Cooper died Thursday in his
Phoenix home. He was area director for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in South
Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico and Arizona, served as an assistant
superintendent at the Navajo agency in Window Rock, Arizona, and Range and Sheep
Breeding Laboratory at Fort Wingate, N. M. He was director in charge of bureau
participation in the Missouri River Basin investigation, worked for 14 years
with the U. S. Department of Agriculture and served as assistant cashier of the
First National Bank and as a business development department representative.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; a son, Jack; a daughter, Ann Heffley; one

Corbin, 66, died July 17, 2006, at Seward Providence Medical Center. Mr. Corbin
was born Nov. 19, 1939, in Portales, N.M. He earned a bachelor of science degree
in elementary education from Grand Canyon College in 1963. Mr. Corbin taught
elementary and junior high for 18 years in Whiteriver, Ariz., on the Apache
Indian Reservation. In August 1981, he moved to Seward and taught junior high
and high school for another 20 years. He retired from the Kenai Peninsula School
District and Seward Junior/Senior High School in 2001. He enjoyed hunting and
fishing. His family wrote: "E.T. was a dedicated family man whose life was
centered around his children. He was happiest when spending time in the
beautiful outdoors of Alaska and being with his children. He will be deeply
missed." He is survived by his son, Stacy Corbin and fiancee, Shannon McCall;
daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Edward Hartman; former wife, Linda Corbin;
daughter-in-law, Deanne Corbin; grandchildren, Courtney and Mitchell Moore;

Oliver
When Tanner Bros. Contracting Co., Inc., began looking for outside
Directors in 1966, the question arose as to whether a member of the company's
legal firm should serve. When this was approved, the choice fell on Don O.
CORBITT, one of the senior partners of the law firm of Snell & Wilmer of
Phoenix. Mr. Corbitt was a native of Iowa, where he was born April 1, 1924, at
Creston. His family moved to Prescott in 1936 and Don finished high school there
before going to the University of Arizona to become an all-state football center
and an all-conference basketball guard. His college career was interrupted by
three years in the Navy during World War II. There he obtained training that
gave him almost enough units of credit for a Degree in Engineering. He graduated
at Arizona and played professional football with the Washington Redskins for a
time before returning to Arizona to obtain a Juris Doctor Degree at the
University of Arizona Law School. WHile studying for this degree he was Student
Bar President and received the Tucson Title Award as the school's outstanding
law student. He served two years as Assistant Attorney General of Arizona before
joining the law firm of Snell & Wilmer. He has served as Director and President
of the Scottsdale Country Club and as a member and Chairman of the Phoenix
Airport Advisory Board. Mr. Corbitt began membership on the Board of the Tanner
Companies in February, 1967, and served also as Assistant Secretary. ** Donald

CORSETTE, Barbara
Barbara Corsette spent her early years on
the Wade family farm in Peoria and earned a bachelor's degree at Arizona State
University in 1962 before starting her career as an elementary school teacher in
California. She was a former employee of the state Division of Emergency
Management. Her commitment to public service and helping others was a defining
element of her life. Barbara was a devoted mother who worked hard to help her
two sons through college and onto future success. She was about family - her
kids, her grandson, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews were most precious
to her. An avid reader and history buff, she was always quick to see the humor
in life. Her legacy is one of kindness, generosity, love, smiles, and laughter.
She passed away Feb. 16, 2007. A memorial service was held at the First

Oct. 18, 1979. "The body of a slain woman found next to a south Phoenix church
was identified as Lucille Couture, 27. The woman's body was found in a vacant
lot at 32nd and Wood streets, police said. It had numerous stab wounds.
Detectives said they had no suspects."

Helen Tina Smathers Covington passed away on Aug 27, 2004 in Phoenix,
Az. She was born in Asheville, N. C., on Nov. 24, 1916. She was brought to
Phoenix at the age of 2 years and was a graduate of Monroe School, Phoenix Union
High School, and Phoenix Junior College, where she graduated with honors. She
was a member of the Phoenix Junior College Archery Team that won the National
Championship. Helen was an accomplished musician in piano as well as organ. At
the age of 18 she was presented in an organ concert at Trinity Cathedral. She
was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tempe, The First Families
of Arizona, and The Queen Esther Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She was
employed by the Phoenix Union High School District at South Mountain High School
and Maryvale High School a total of 24 years. Helen was preceded in death by her
husband of 60 years Wyman Covington and son, Thomas Michael Covington. She is
survived by her daughter, Tina Marinak and son-in-law Chuck Marinak of Phoenix,
and her sister Blanche Smathers of Scottsdale. Also surviving are grandsons Adam
and Jeremy Strickler of Phoenix, Ben, Brenton and Dan Covington of Tempe, and
Alex Covington of Asheville, N. C., great-grandson, Thomas Covington, nieces
Mary Ella Tappe, and Betty Jean Jacober of Phoenix, and Pam Swiney of Tucson,

Willis Cox, 79, who died April 18, 1978, in Boswell Hospital, were in Greenwood
Memorial Park, 2300 W. Van Buren, Phoenix. Mr. Cox, 15801 N. 51st Ave., had been
an abstractor 10 years for Transamerica Title Co. and life member of the Elks in
Pueblo, Colorado. Surviving are his wife, Mildred; children, Judith Jacobs,

Edna E. Cox, 77, a Phoenix resident since 1956, died Nov. 21,
1982, in Maricopa Medical Center. Mrs. Cox was born in Columbia, Indiana, and is
survived by her daughters, Leora Smitley, Arlene McGuire and Marian Sheldon;
five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services were at Green Acres

Mesa, died Feb. 7, 1994. She was born in Winnebago, Illinois, and was a retired
office manager. Survivors include daughter, Sally Acevedo; sons, Eugene,

COX, Frederick
Frederick Burr Cox, 66, passed away in Mesa, Arizona on
August 23, 2004. He was born June 7, 1938 in Midland, South Dakota to Glen and
Melba Cox. He is survived by his wife: Sandra (Johnson) Cox, daughter, Terri
Day(Marty), two grandchildren, three brothers: Pat, Michael, and Bill Hall of
Rapid City, South Dakota, and aunt Juanita Warfel of Mesa. Bunker's University

COX, Hazel Jeanette
Mesa - Hazel Jeannette Cox, 72, who came here 70
years ago and had taught in Irving and Lincoln schools, died Oct. 10, 1979, in
the home of a daughter in Mesa. Mrs. Cox graduated from Mesa High School and
Arizona State University. She was a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and
the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survivors include her
daughters, Jeannette Chapman and Mary Jane Lengston; eight grandchildren; two

Breezy Cox, of
Rodeo Fame, Dies in Tucson. Buckeye - Funeral services for Lionel Bert Cox, 59,
one-time world's champion all-around rodeo cowboy, will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in
the Buckeye Funeral Home. The Rev. Leroy Crosley will officiate. Burial will be
in Louis B. Hazelton Cemetery. Mr. Cox, who performed in rodeos throughout the
country for many years, died of a heart attack in Tucson Thursday, January 21,
1960. He was known on the rodeo circuit as "Breezy Cox". Born in Sonora, Texas,
Mr. Cox came to Arizona in 1915. He had been living in Pinetop the past several
years and before that had lived in Buckeye and Solomon. After suffering a broken
leg in a rodeo four years ago, he retired from rodeo competition and operated a
string of race horses. He is survived by his wife, Jessie; a son, John W.,
Phoenix; three sisters, Mrs. Mona Burns, Yarnell; Mrs. Cora Fribley, Tularosa,
N.M.; and Mrs. Zora Arnold, Buckeye; three brothers, Otho, Duncan, and Lendel
and G. W., both of Buckeye and a granddaughter. The Arizona Republic Saturday,

Marian Roberta Cox who was born in Bisbee and taught at North Phoenix High
School from 1939 to 1972, died Sept 28, 1980, in her home. She was a member of
Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Eastern Star, Rho Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and
the Arizona and National Retired Teachers associations. Services conducted by
the Very Roy E. Bradbury Usher in Chapel of Memories A. L. Moore Sons. Interment
Greenwood. A memorial to the Lois Snyder Memorial Fund of Retired Teachers Fund

Boswell Hospital. He was born in Tustin, California, and was a member of the

School District. He was a WWII Navy veteran and was a junior college teacher in

Henry C. Cozza, 59, a World War II Army veteran, died March 22, 1980, in his
home. Mr. Cozza moved here in 1946 from Clyde, N.Y., and was a nurses' assistant
at Phoenix Veterans Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Ottilia; children,
Julia Anderson, Henry and Robert; five grandchildren; five sisters and a
