ST. ARMOUR, Clement Stanley
Scripture services for Clement Stanley St. Armour, 64, were in Glendale Chapel of the Chimes. Mass was in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 3140 N. 51st Ave. Mr. St. Armour, 6701 W. Devonshire, died Oct. 22, 1979, in Phoenix Baptist Hospital. He had worked for the New York City Housing Authority before moving here four years ago. John R. St. Clair, 72, a printer and bookbinder, died Nov. 18, 1982, at Boswell Memorial Hospital, Sun City. Mr. St. Clair moved to Arizona in 1910 from Kansas and settled in Benson. He is survived by his children, Mayr {sic} Benson, Virgie Waller, Leslie and William St. Clair; two sisters, a brother, 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Thomas Edward St. Clair, 86, a retired farmer, died January 6, 1960, in his home, 2217 W. Mitchell. Mr. St. Clair, born in Howard County, Missouri, came to Phoenix in 1918 from Fayette, Missouri. STALHUT, Judith Lee
Judith Lee Stalhut, age 61,of Kingman, died Wednesday September 15, 2004 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix. Judy was born September 7, 1943 in Prescott to Max and Martha (Mitchell) McFarland. Judy graduated from Prescott High School, class of 1961. She was a member and very active in the Prescott Frontier Days, The Republican Women of Prescott, the PTA 's of both Prescott High School and Taylor Hicks Elementary School, The Badgers Football Boosters, Pop Warner Football and Little League. A beautiful, witty and talented wife, mother and true friend, she will always remain in our hearts. Judy is survived by her loving husband Tom, of Kingman, also a PHS graduate, her sons Josh Thomsen and K. C. Thomsen, her step children Audra and Tanya and their children Haley, Anthony and Jace; her brothers Spanky McFarland and William McFarland of Tempe; and many, many dear friends. Judy was preceded in death by her daughter Marcy Lynn Ivy. Visitation will be on Monday September 20 from 1:30-2:00pm at the Hampton Funeral Home followed by Funeral Services and A Celebration of Judy's Life at 2:00 pm. Father Fred LeClaire, C. M. Richard Clair Starner, 18, a former assistant coach at Valley of the Sun Track Club, died March 11, 1980. He was born in Phoenix and died in Henderson, Nevada. He was a varsity track letterman at Alhambra High School and after moving to Nevada in 1979 was a varsity track and field letterman at Henderson High School. Evelyn E. Steinert, nee Thomas, 82, of West Bend, WI and Mesa, AZ passed away Wed. Sept. 8, 2004 at Cedar Community in West Bend, WI. She was born on April 16, 1922 in Plymouth, WI to the late Joseph and Emma (nee Lauffer) Thomas. On June 30, 1945 she was united in marriage to Karl Steinert at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Plymouth, WI. They made their home in West Bend, WI and Evelyn was a teacher in the West Bend School District. After retirement Evelyn and Karl wintered at Sun Land Village in Mesa, AZ. Karl passed away on June 28, 2003. Evelyn was a member of Fifth Ave. United Methodist Church in West Bend and Velda Rose United Methodist Church in Mesa. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star West Bend Chapter #73. She is survived by five children, Susan (Dennis) Gray of Highland, IN, Chuck (Pam) Steinert of West Bend, WI, Barbara (Patrick) Hayes of Green Bay, WI, Tom (Tracey) Steinert of Spokane, WA, and Ann (John) Strupp of Dublin, OH; eleven grandchildren, Jenny (Brian) Frick, Julie Gray, Melissa Gray, Jeff (Mindy) Steinert, Heather (Carlos) de Agostini, Heidi Hayes, Laura Hayes, Regan Steinert, Betsy Steinert, Blair Strupp, and Emma Strupp; a great-grandson, Nathan Frick, other relatives and friends. George H. Stell, 50, and his son, Gregory A. Stell, 22, were killed in a tanker plane crash while fighting a fire Thursday, June 27, 1974, in the Safford area. Both were pilots and the son worked the past eight years for his father who owned Stell Aviation Co. in Phoenix. The company flew contract missions for the Forest Service when chemicals were dropped to slow the spread of fires. STINER, James
Chandler -- James Stiner, 65, guard at the Arizona State Prison, was found shot Monday, Sep. 18, 1967, southwest of Coolidge. Mr. Stiner served in the Navy, Army and Air Force from 1932 to 1962. He retired as a master sergeant of air police in 1962 at Williams AFB and shortly afterwards became a prison guard at Florence. He came to Chandler in 1958 and was a softball and baseball umpire. He was born in Harrisburg, PA. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; three sons, Vince, Nick, and James Stiner, Jr., all of Ohio; and a stepson, Klaus Schadle of Los Angeles. Raymond Edward Stocker, (Ray) 91, Ahwatukee, died at home peacefully Sept. 20, 2004 after a short illness. Ray was born in Cleveland, Oho on July 27, 1913 and moved to Arizona with his mother in 1936. He was a member of Wayfarers Lodge #50 and Scottish Rite, El Zaribah Shrine Motor Patrol ( he loved his Vespa). Ray was past president and life Member of The Dons of Arizona, an organization that he was devoted To. Ray Retired from First National Bank of Arizona as Senior Vice President of Commercial Loans in 1976 after 42 years with The bank. He never met a stranger and had a smile on his Face all the time. He was preceded in death by his two brothers John and Carl. The three are now together catching up on old times. He is going to be missed dearly by his many friends and loved ones. STOLAROFF, Myer
Tucson - Graveside funeral services for Myer Stolaroff, 67, a Benson merchant who died in Tucson Medical Center January 11, 1960, were conducted at Evergreen Cemetery. A color guard and firing squad from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base conducted military graveside services at Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Stolaroff had operated the Fair Store, a retail clothing business, in Benson since 1931. Born in Russia, he came to the United States in 1904. He lived in El Paso and Douglas before moving to Benson in 1914. A veteran of World War I, he was active in the American Legion. He was a past state vice commander of that organization. He also was a member of 40 and 8. He never married. He is survived by three sisters, Dr. Ethel Stoliar and Miss Jennie Stolaroff, both of New York City, and Mrs. Judith Feldman, Roswell, N. STRICKLAND, John Orlando
John Orlando Strickland, 74, of Phoenix, passed away on 9/24/04. He was born in Tombstone and grew up in Tucson. He is survived by wife, Cindy, and daughters Jennifer and Cassy, with husband Eddie Mendez. He is also survived by his brother William E. Strickland and sister Dorothy Waters, numerous nieces and nephews, 5 cats and 3 dogs. John earned a Masters Degree in Botany at Arizona State College, where he made life long friends. He taught high school biology for nearly 30 years first at Carl Hayden, and then at Maryvale High School and worked 15 summers as a seasonal park ranger at the Grand Canyon. Mr. Strickland will be remembered and missed by thousands of students and by all the pigeons at Encanto Park. Our deepest appreciation and thanks go to all of the care givers who have lovingly cared for John. Services will be held at the Chapel in Memory Mausoleum at Greenwood Cemetery at 1:00 P. 30 Apr 1892 - 3 May 1967. Hugh C. Stringham, 75, a commercial loan officer 10 years for the Valley National Bank before he retired in 1957, died May 3, 1967, in Good Samaritan Hospital. STUERMER, Phillip F.
Safford -- Phillip F. Stuermer, 32, died Wed., Sep. 6, 1967, as a result of injuries suffered in a truck accident near Globe. Mr. Stuermer, a native of Safford, was discharged a month ago from the National Guard as a first lieutenant. He was a marksman in state and national rifle competition and was part of the third generation of the Stuermer family which owned the Coca Cola franchise in Graham, Greenlee and Gila counties. He was a member of the Elks and Lions Clubs. Survivors include his wife, Anne; mother, Mrs. Patsy ENYART of Vancouver, B.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Patricia EILES of Phoenix and Kathy STUERMER of Mesa.
