who came to Globe in 1913 and Phoenix in 1915, were in Double Butte Cemetery,
Tempe. Mrs. Rial, formerly of 1915 W. Palm Lane, died Tuesday (12/15/1970) in
Brawley, Calif., where she lived the past 18 months. She was a member of Trinity
Methodist Church and Royal Neighbors of American. Born in Bell County, Texas,
she came to Arizona from Muskogee, Oklahoma. Survivors include two sons, Vachel
H. Anderson of Brawley; Clarence V. Anderson of St. Johns; two daughters, Mrs.
Bert Franzen and Mrs. Mae Messick, who both moved to Honolulu a month ago from
Phoenix; 10 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and three

Glendale -- Ester M. Riaza, 25, died of an illness Thurs., May 11, 1967, in
Good Samaritan Hospital. Miss Riaza, 6730 N. 56th Ave., had been employed the
past seven years as a sewing machine operator for the E.L. Gruber Co. She was
born in Litchfield Park and attended Glendale schools. Survivors include her
father, Ramon; two brothers, Eddie and Richard; a sister, Mary; and her

RIBERA, Romulo
Romulo Ribera, 90, a concert violinist, died Dec. 5,
1982, at a local hospital. He was born in Spain and toured Europe and Africa as
a violinist before moving to New York. While a concertmaster in Capetown, South
Africa, he met his wife, Erica, a Russian-born dentist who later taught Spanish
in schools in Coolidge and was an interpreter for the United Stations. The
Riberas moved to Arizona in 1930s. Mrs. Ribera died in 1971. St. Francis

grandchildren and all the other kids who grew up at his house and called him
"Dad". John served in the U. S. Army, retired from Mountain Bell (U. S. West)

fast cars, his two St. Bernards, horses, but nothing made him happier than

Clarence A. Rieger, 68, a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, died
Sunday, Aug. 27, 1967, in a Phoenix nursing home. Mr. Rieger, 888 W. Baseline,
had worked for Mountain States Telephone Co. since moving here in 1926 from
Florida. He retired in 1963. Services were in A.L.Moore & Sons Mortuary.
Entombment in Memory Lawn Mausoleum. Mr. Rieger, a native of Manchester, Iowa,
is survived by his wife, E. Maurine; two sons, Eugene F. of Denver and Gordon of
Meriden, Connecticut; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Trenberth of Phoenix; a brother and
a sister out of state; and five grandchildren. Family suggests contributions to

RIGGS, Mary West
Mary West Riggs, an Arizona native, teacher
and writer, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 1967, in San Miguel, California. She would
have been 84 on September 7. Mrs. Riggs was born in Snowflake where her parents
had settled at the call of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She
taught school in Snowflake after being graduated from the University of Utah.
She and her husband, Don F. Riggs, ran a livery stable, a stage line between
Holbrook, Snowflake and Ft. Apache, and a hotel in Snowflake. Mrs. Riggs wrote
plays and readings, taught public speaking and was a professional play director.
She wrote two books, the most recent entitled, "The Five Branches of Love." She
lived in Phoenix. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Veon R. Shupe of Phoenix
and Mrs. Alice R. Harris of Eagle, Idaho; three sons, Don and Rockford, both of
Phoenix, and Curtis Finch of Walnut Grove, Calif.; 25 grandchildren, and 66
great-grandchildren. Services at the Ninth Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus

Rivera, of Phoenix, AZ passed away on September 21, 2004 at the age of 56. She
was born in Weslaco, Texas on October 26, 1947 to Reverend Jaime Bejar Sr. and
Maria Sotelo Bejar. She married Salvador R. Rivera on November 26, 1966 in
Anaheim, CA. She devoted her life to serving God and others. She was very active
in the ladies auxiliary organization, Dorcas, at her church, holding leadership
positions at the local and state level. She composed many songs and dramas that
continue to be widely enjoyed. Rachel was an honor student at Phoenix College
where she received numerous academic scholarships and awards. She is survived by
her husband, SaIvador, mother, Maria; two children, Sal and Erika; five
grandchildren, Erika-Jasmine, Micah, Adriana, Graciela and Jacob; and five
brothers and sisters, Noni Flores, John Bejar, Gabriel Bejar, Michael Bejer, and
