Services for John Evin Gentry, 41, who died Saturday, August 5, 1967, in his home at 2021 W. Gardenia, were in Sunset Chapel, 301 W. Camelback. Burial in Greenwood Memorial Park. Mr. Gentry was born in Stratford, Oklahoma, and moved here 31 years ago from Shawnee, Oklahoma. He was employed as a lather by Reliable Drywall Co., 3800 W. Whitton. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Faith Assembly of God. GEORGE, Donald L.
Donald L. George, 49, an Army veteran of World War II, died Monday, June 24, 1974, in Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, N.Y. He had been chief of prosthetics, artificial limb departments since 1946 at Veterans Administration hospitals. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Elks Lodge and Lutheran faith. He was born in Newton, Kansas, and moved from Phoenix four years ago. GEORGE, Jack D.
In loving memory of Jack D. George, 84, born January 8, 1920 in Roseville, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2004 in Sun City West, Arizona. Jack was a member of the Army Air Forces during World War II. He served as a bombadier on the B-24 Liberator. He was part of the European Air Campaign who was shot down over France. Jack remained a POW until liberated by General Patton's forces. After the war, Jack worked for Electro-Motive in LaGrange, Illinois and then was an executive for Campbell Soup until his retirement in 1985. Jack was a golfer and a swimmer in his retirement days. He is survived by his wife, Virginia; his daughter Barbara Riddle and her husband, Craig; his son, Mike George and his wife Suzie. Jack has four grandchildren: Julie, Andy, Greg and Steve and three little great granddaughters: Katie, Emily, and Hannah. Jack was a wonderful and loving husband, dad, grandfather and great grandfather. His family who loved him dearly and his friends will miss him every day. The memorial service was private. GERSTEN, Linda
Scottsdale - Linda Gersten, 66, who organized the first debutante cotillion for the Tucson Symphony in 1957, died Jan. 4, 1982, in John C. Lincoln Hospital. Mrs. Gersten, 7308 E. Montebello, came to Tucson in 1954 from New York City. She had been an advertising and fashion model in New York City and later appeared in several Paramount Pictures, including a Jack Benny film. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and recently moved to Scottsdale from Tucson. She moved with her family to Mesa, Arizona, where she attended school and graduated from Mountain View High School in 1999. She attended ASU for one year and married Matthew Giannotti in 2001. Kristin was a sweet, loving daughter, granddaughter, wife and mother. Her beautiful daughter, Talia, was the light and joy of her life. Kristin especially loved camping in the mountains, reading, and spending time on California beaches. Her lovely smile and beautiful eyes will be missed by all who loved her. She is lovingly survived by her husband, Matthew, and precious daughter, Talia; her parents, Bob and Diane Morris; brother, Ryan; grandparents, Leo and Meredith Schumacher and Billy and Shirley Morris and many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Mr. Giarrusso had operated a tavern in Little Falls, New York, before moving to Phoenix 15 years ago. Born in Italy, he came to the United States as a boy and became a citizen in 1896. He was a member of the Sons of Italy. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Stella Yatarola and Jette Giarrusso, both of Phoenix; three sons, James of Phoenix, Michael of Fort Plain, N. Mr. Gibbons received his master of divinity degree from St. John's Seminary, Camarillo, CA. He also attended Loyola University. He was director of religious education for the Community of the Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church in Scottsdale from 1976 to 1979. Surviving are his wife, Marcella, who is on the nursing staff of Scottsdale Memorial Hospital; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard W. Gibbons; two sisters and a brother. Fredrick C. Gierke of Phoenix, Arizona passed away August 27, 2004 at the age of 59. Fred was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on October 20, 1944. He spent most of his growing up years in Wabash, Indiana, where he graduated from Wabash High School. He then attended Purdue University in Indiana, before joining the U. S. Air Force. After serving his country, he attended Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Business. After spending many years in Ohio, he happily relocated with his job to Phoenix, Arizona. He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Glenna Gierke, Peru, Indiana; one son and daughter-in-law Robert and Babette Gierke; one soon to be granddaughter, Sara Alexandra, all from Fort Wayne, Indiana; two nephews and one great niece. GILBERT, Leona
Leona (Lee) Gilbert, beloved by all who knew her began her new life in heaven with Christ Jesus on September 13, 2004. She persevered and kept the faith, always displaying grace and dignity, even during her twelve year battle with cancer. She was born May 10, 1930 in Bentley North Dakota. She attended Dickenson State Teachers' College, then taught in a one-room schoolhouse in 1948. Lee married Vern Gilbert on June 16, 1949. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 1999, and now are together in heaven. Lee was a pioneer in day-care, caring for children in her home beginning in 1955. In 1974, she began working for Mervyn's and continued until 2003, when she went on medical leave. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and for her unshakeable faith. She is preceded in death by her husband, Vern. She is survived by her children, Douglas Gilbert and his wife Dorothy, Vicki Gilbert, LaVonne Rinaldo and her husband Joseph, and three grandchildren, Brian, Heather, Elaina and two great grandsons, Evan and K. C., her brother Bob Krause and his wife Marion, sister, Rose Gilbert and her husband Chuck, and very dear friend, Kyle Seals. A celebration of her life will be Saturday, September 18th at Grace Community Church, Tempe. Visitation is at 2:30 and the service is at 3:00. GINN, J. Allen, Sr.
J. Allen GINN, Sr., nationally known horseman, died Thursday night in Good Samaritan Hospital at the age of 62. Mr. Ginn, a native of Timpson, Texas, came to the Valley 38 years ago from Longview, Texas. In the late '20's he built the houses in the Del Norte tract across from Encanto Park. He was an outstanding breeder of Palomino and walking horses and had served as president of the Palomino Horse Association of Arizona. Among the many champions he raised was Gold Moon Jr. Mr. Ginn had participated in 10 Tournament of Roses parades in Pasadena, Calif., and had been active for many years in the Horse Lovers Club and all-Palomino horse shows. He rode in the annual Wickenburg Desert Caballeros' 120-mile horse trek and in the Santa Barbara, Calif., ride. He was a member of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Posse, the Elks Lodge, and the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Ginn's ranch was located in the Wittman area, although he made his home in Phoenix at 1533 W. Camelback. He is survived by his wife, Nannie Pearl; a son, Dr. J. Allen GINN, Jr., Phoenix, president of Doctors, Inc.; a daughter, Mrs. Donald JONES of Honolulu; a brother, Edward GINN, Phoenix; three sisters, Mrs. Lyda POUNDER, Dallas, Texas; Mrs. Olie COOPER, Tyler, Texas; and Mrs. H. Gipson, Helen
Helen Gipson, 97, of Phoenix passed away on November 24, 2005 Helen was born on November 14, 1909 in Bisbee AZ. She was a 50 year member of Eastern Star. She was also a member of the First Congregational Church. Helen earned her A.A. at Tempe Normal School, a B.A. at Arizona State University and an M.A. at Northern Arizona University. She formed the First Dental Assisting Class in the state of Arizona at Phoenix Union High School. Helen was asked and formed the Dental Assisting Class of Orange County California. She then finished her career at East Phoenix High School before retirement. Helen was preceeded in death by her husband James D. Gipson Sr., sisters; Hulda Manchini and Hilda Cook. She was survived by her son James D. Gipson Jr. and wife Rayona, Grandchildren; James D. Gipson III and wife Aileen, Kara and Brad Rockholt, great grandchildren; Colin and Megan Rockholt. A celebration of Life was held at First Congregational Church, 1407 North 2nd Street Phoenix, AZ 85004. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Bethesda Maryland. Pinetop - Joseph Dominick Girardi, 39, counselor and head football and wrestling coact at Show Low High School, died Dec. 7, 1982, from injuries sustained in an auto accident near Winslow. He was born in New Kensington, PA. He attended Eastern Arizona Junior College in Thatcher and graduated from Southwestern State University in Weatherford, OK, with a bachelors degree in business in 1967 and his masters degree in counseling in 1969. He taught and coached at Leoti, Kansas, Blue Ridge High School in Lakeside and Baker University in Baldwin, KS, before moving to Show Low in 1980. He and his wife owned and operated the El Rancho Restaurant in Pinetop. He is survived by his wife, Maria; daughters, Sylviana Lynn, Cheryl Ann and Rica Rae; son, Frank B.; two sisters and a brother. 12/9/1982.

GLASS, Donald R.
Donald R. Glass, 79, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away on September 13, 2004 in Phoenix, AZ. He was born on February 23, 1925 in Milwaukee, WI to Robert and Mary (Mitchell) Glass. Donald served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He was an auto mechanic for over 50 years and served as a volunteer fireman in Fox Point, WI for 35 years. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. Donald had 17 wonderful years of retirement and following his move to Arizona, became an active member with the Scottsdale Senior Center. He will be remembered for his love of golf, fishing and photography. Thankful for having shared in his life are his wife Geraldine J. Glass; daughter, Elizabeth Glass and husband Edward Spears; son, Kevin Glass and one grandson, Brett Spears.
